Default Charlie Kulp "The Flying Farmer"

There has been some great footage of some possibly insane people on here lately. I tried to find some footage of the Flying Farmer to put it all into perspective for you. If you've seen him perform, you know what I mean. I can't find any footage though. I'll say this. Bone stock J3+80 year old farmer+plus high alpha flying on the deck=The Flying Farmer.

Charlie Culp
Stan Sagalla
Greg Koontz

All great flying farmers.

The best however is located here in S.E. Pa... Roger Lehnart.

I want to say that I think Kulp may have retired this year..but Im not sure. I also know a few others are out there, but these are the guys I've worked with and have noting but good things to say about them

Charlie is member of our hall of fame at the Virginia Aviation Historical Society and is a master of high alpha flight in the Cub.
A guy at an airshow came up to Charlie and said that he owned a Cub and didn't know it would fly like that. Charlie simply replied; "It wont, unless I am in the back seat."

Would Kent Pietsch qualify? Not a Farmer routine, but best pilot with one aileron around.
Whatever happened to Crashburn T. Throttlebottom? Last time I saw him was Aerospace America 90...the last time Tom Jones flew.

Charlie Culp (I got his name right this time) performed at the Great Georgia Airshow about a month ago. I believe it was his 83rd or 84th birthday.

I saw Charlie (aka The Flying Farmer) perform at the Bealton Flying Circus about a year ago or so. There was nothing funnier then when he sits on tail of the aircraft waiting for a ride. As well, when he wacks the crap out of the airplane with his cane!

He also performed the lowest loop I have ever seen in a full scale aircraft.

Charlie was my insperation to master the Cub. I saw him early in my RC career (bought into the scam hook, line and sinker). I later latched onto the Cub as my primary trainer for my private. After I earned it, I pushed to teach myself every maneuver in his routine (at a safer altitude, of course).

I once had the honor of proping him at the start of his performance at an airshow. I'll miss his mastery of that aircraft. He is a legend. Charlie Culp is THE one true "Flying Farmer."
