A123 or li ion for receiver pk

Posted 10-19-2009 at 08:44 PM by bthrone
I am using the A123 2500 receiver pk into a smart fly PE sport. I'm getting a few comments from the IMAC guys at the field questioning the packs. They use the Li Ion packs. Which pack is best ? most dependable? Thanks BenT

If you do a little research you will find them to be excellent and extremely reliable. Just because they are IMAC guys doesn't mean they know everything. That being said there is nothing wrong with Lions either.

I've flown Ion for years and they are great batteries. I switched over to the 123 tech and I like them very much! lighter, no reg's 10C output no refresh rate problem! The only thing is just keep up with how many flights per charge. I like the Kodiak high output switches from Fromeco to keep up with the MAH used per charge.

I use A123's. Two packs for receiver going through a Smart-Fly Competition 12 and on on ignition. Using Kodiak switches. Great packs. Love 'em.

Will now use A123's on all my airplanes, even my smaller glo planes.

123's are tthe easiest to set up, no regs or powerboxes needed. i have 2 2300's on a carden 232 40% cap and a jr 922 receiver. the can supply 60c bursts if needed, and they chage in literally 10 minutes, don't get hot or warm much safer battery. i fly imac and 3d, no issues at all. i can get 7 10 minute flights before i need to even think about charging.
