Over Whelming....

Some may know that I have a QQ 102 yak. Recently, I've been thinking of exactly how I can afford 2k+ to get this thing flying. Considering a 13 year old can't make that much money with out doing some major things. It gets super frustrating and really lowers your morale when you have to think about all the money you have to save up.
Well, hopefully I will be able to get it flying...

| | If you cant easily replace it, you shouldn't be flying it. I know thats not what you want to hear but thats the truth. In high school (I'm in college now) I flew an ultra stick 40 for two seasons in a row. You can have a LOT of fun with a whole lot less money than a big gasser will cost. I never worried about crashing. I re-built the thing several times and even if the plane was totalled I could easilly afford to replace it several times over. No stress, I flew in ANY wind, took it to friends farms to show them the hobby, used it as a camera platform, could fly it without spotters, didn't need a van or trailer etc etc. |

| | it's a beautiful plane, but i agree with edge 540 up above. i'm going back to school so i am having to stick with my PA addiction, and keep flying lower priced electrics. not to mention it opens up more possibilities as far as places to take it out to fly. i can go up to the local schoolyard with it. and my wife won't be as quick to castrate me if something happens to it. |

| | Hey kid I know how you feel, the numbers are staggering in this fantastic giant scale hobby, so just keep it small and more affordable for a while. A small and light $400 plane can do everything a $4000 plane can do ! not to mention - if my wife knew how much my plane cost, I would be living out in the woods - with the Raccoons ----have fun ! |

| | I'll tell you how! Mow lawns, wash cars. I remember when I was your age I would make $100 on a good day of car washing. Let's say you work both Saturday and Sunday, and you make $150. Thats enough to buy two really good servos for your plane (5985's). You get those, then the next weekend you get money to buy two more. In a month you have the 8 servos for the plane. Now that you got the servos taken care of, what about batteries, regulators and a 9-ch receiver? Ask for this for Christmas! Be a good boy, and depending on how things are going, Santa might just surprise you! Then you have the final stretch, and most expensive part. The motor. But hey, you already got the rest of the stuff. Keep on working and even if it takes another year, you will have it flying way before you would if you didn't do anything. These are just ideas! Good luck with your quest and hope you can get flying soon. |
