Smile Carbon fibre Sukhoi..

Hello, this is my first footprint here o flying giants... I would like to here if there is anyone with experience from a fullly carbonfibre construction? Of course i think of radio problems, and also how to se the black aircraft in the air.

The reason for this project is that my first sukhoi was build in gladfibre with gelcoat and was quite heavy, almost 8 kg start weight , (1900mm wing span). My new Sukhoi should be exteamely light, and now my start weight seems to be between 5.0 and 5.5 Kg , and i guess this is pretty light for a gas engine powered machine..

No, there is no plan to make a kit of it... It takes all to long time to make any economy to sell this bird... or maybe a make it all to good.. but that is a part of the hobbie.. The nice thing building in cnc machined moulds is that the surface finishing is just very nice withaout any paint..

Please feel free to visit www.modellbyggeriet.se/sukhoi , there is buildning notes from the start.

best regards

Rikard

I had range problems with my 3.3m Yak which had a good deal of carbon fiber in it, the problem was solved by using whip antennas outside the fuse.
Good luck

Sorry, Sorry, Sorry.... Okey,, i have plan to mould a carbon fibre prop also, but for the first test i have modelled and machined my own wood prop, to find the correct size... then maybe i will machine a mould for this also... But i can also paint the prop black and you belive it is carbon fibre.. ;-)

Rikard,

Must be nice to have all that software knowledge. The project looks very nice, I like it. May not wook very well for the new 2.4 Ghz radios with all that beautiful black CF.
