Hi all, I have a Bud Nosen P-51 kit NIB but somewhere over the years the building instructions have vanished. I have the plans but I'm hoping that someone out there might take pity on me and be willing to share a copy of the building instructions. I'm kind of expecting the instructions to say "glue together all of the balsa in the box and then carve away everything that doesn't look like a P-51" ![]() Other than beefing up the structure to handle something in the 80cc range are there other issues that I should watch out for in this build? What are the recomended retracts for this plane? Any direction and help would be greatly appreciated. I know that it is not the most true to scale outline and I'm not planning on competing in any scale events - I just want to build a big brother to my TF giant scale P-47 and the Balsa USA Dr1. Regards, Gordon Wilhelm |

Thanks for your input Tmac48 and IFLYRC. Both of your planes are beautiful but I really like IFLYRC's scheme! Any suggestions from either of you regarding the need to beef up the structure?? What engines are you using? Tmac48: who made the retracts? They look like good quality stuff! I would be interested in talking to you about them. Please contact me by PM. IFLYRC: I have the plans but I need the building instructions that I assume came with the kit. My kit has passed through several hands and somewhere along the way the building instructions vanished. |

Hey Trumpetman, I have the Bud Nosen P47. The wing needs considerable beefing up to make sure the ribs can handle the load. Remember this kit was designed for fixed gear and a small engine. Jim |

Here's a pic of what I did when I scratch built the wing. All of the ribs from the landing gear to the root are light-ply. Shear webbing is light-ply in the same area. Where the landing gear rails are I put 1/8 ply on each side fo the rib. I used 1/2X1/4 inch spars all the way to the wing tips and from the gear to the root rib I doubled that with another 1/2X 1/4. There is only 12 ribs per side instead of the balsa ones. Beefy! ![]() Sorry I don't have the instructions but like you said it's probably real basic. Good luck Jim |

Hi Jim, Thanks for the information and pictures. What you have done is right in line with the Top Flight giant scale P-47 wing structure (except for the light-ply ribs that you used). Gordon |

Yes I do! One person said that they had access to them but so far I have not seen them. If you could scan and e-mail this would be great If you want to photocopy and snail-mail this would work as well. Either way please PM me so I can get you my contact info. Thanks again. ![]() ![]() ![]() By the way are you flying a Nosen P-51? If so what kind of set up did you use?
