Ryan, I don't expect to put 5 flights a day on that plane so if can get 2 flights on a charge and have some reserve, I should be fine, if I find out that more is needed, I will do something as I already ordered 4 of those batteries or maybe I can swap batteries after few flights or custom order larger batteries, this is a start for now but you brought a good point.

Personally I'd use an expander on a beast like this but that is just me.

Wish I lived alot closer so I could take a turn riding in that plane......its huge.
Sam, it's not only the number of servos, these large airplanes are hard on the servos and require more juice.
I am using the power box royal with 2 receivers.

Snap,

If you are gonna sticker it up like you usually do, do us all a favor and weigh all that vinyl before you put it on! You may need to find a new vinyl cutter with a larger cutter!!......

That is definately an impressive plane, congrats!

you could pull a BIG fish outta the pond with that baby!! (or just knock one out with that rudder!!)

Regards,

Astrohog

Snap, I was thinking more of momentary loads drawing too many amps out of the Ions, and hitting the receiver with a heavy drop in voltage (brownout). I'm going with twin 5200s on my Edge but on the big mama, Lithium Polymers might handle the heavy servo loads without as much voltage drop.

How good of a SNAPASAURUSBADAAASSSS video do I have to make to get a chance to fly this thing?

I still haven't installed the sticker you sent me. I haven't found a plane worthy of it yet

I would use A123 batteries, they can take anything, and you can recharge them with 10 Amps, which will give you 10 minutes of charging. I would connect all the red and black wires from the servos directly in to the batteries, and the signal cables directly in to the powerbox/ receicer. And use a separate battery for the receiver. That way you wont fry it. And you will never be short of juice to the servos.

I will order a 60% Extra when they are back in stock, just need to fin a way to get it here.

Great build, Snap, I have followed the other big bird thread you had, and it is a great inspiration for me. You are the man, and I would love to meet you and the other guys some time in the future.
