I came by this aircraft a couple of years ago. Been a long time rounding up parts and a few hundred hours in sanding it down. It was painted in single stage paints which makes for hard paint lines. Servos will be 8711's all the way around 2 on each elevator, 3 on each aileron, 1 Seiko on the rudder, throttle and choke. Spektrum 9100, Fromeco batteries on rx and a Seiko driver (11.1 volt) for the Seiko. Engine is a 3W 275 with a Hemple 37-13. Hope to have it ready to maiden in June. We sanded the plane down. Next we shot a white base coat on everything. Now we are adding color. We have used about 5000ft of tape and about 2 gallons of mixed paint. The last picture is what the final look will be.

Doesn't Bill have a video on his website of him flying one of these? I believe that he used a 3w-342. He seemed to fly it very well. Good luck! That thing seems HUGE!

Are you sure you don't need a 342 like he did? How much does this thing weigh in comparison to the arf that he sells?

The 275 will be more than enough. The guys running the 50% Hemple Edges are running the 275 and hovering on the deck. I am not a hover head and fly more scale like. This aircraft will perform more like a real Edge.

Maybe, the BH ARf's are wood and weigh less than 60lbs....the 52%er comes in @ 75+lbs.

Thats the only reason i am saying he may need a 342. The 275 will prob just pull it around. But i still think a 342 would do more scale like flying. Someone get Bill Hempel on here. He's the giant scale king and has actually flown one of these. I think he is needed here! Good Luck man! Just trying to help you out, no thread bashing or anything.

This is the second one that the original owner had. This one is about 10 lbs lighter than the first that had a 240 in it. I have been bashed before and I am sure I will bashed again. No worries. Bash away. If it does not work well then it will hang in the shop looking pretty and we will pull the guts out and find a new home.

Hey Chris. I did a build thread before. Once. Last time I ever do that. Incidentally that plane that everyone hated and thought would fall apart might be at the XFC this year as a backup (it has been repainted from the horrible stock color scheme it came with). Just go for it man. Hey I was thinking.... Doesn't a 150 class engine with a 32/10 put out roughly 60 pounds of thrust? Wouldn't that make an appropriately propped 275 put out right around 75-80 pounds give or take? That would still be more than a scale thrust to weight ratio. Just saying......
