Hey giants, I need your help, advice, opinions, you know the drill. here is the problem, so one day i decided to order a Planes Plus Extra 34%. about 7 months ago. to make a long story short it took over 4 months to get everything delivered and installed ( mostly delivered ). It maid its maiden sucessfully and I was just getting comfortable with the plane when after an evening of flying, took thing wings off, stood em up and heard that dreaded rattle of wood travelling from the tip to the root (yeah they were built up wings). so i got home and took all the covering off ( that didnt even take a heat gun to do) and discovered under the sheeting that whoever had put my wings together must had been drinking all night cause they forgot to glue half the wing and what ws glued was barely making contact. a couple calls later i was told that they were aware of this problem and i would have new wings in 3 days. that was 2 months ago! i can no longer get ahold of anyone and quite frankly dont care anymore so i have given up. ok now to the point. i am going to make a solid set of foam wings that way i gont have to worry about trashing my plane cause some china girl cant glue wings. my questions are: has anyone ever made foam wings for a plane designed for built up wings? are there any balance issues that will arise. is there anything else i need to know about doing this? my flying season was cut short because of pitifull cust. service and poor product quality and that just me off!! i will try and upload some pics of the existing wings.

I will just relay what I know. I have seen a thread where 2 guys were making foam core wings so I guess they were not too concerned. Take a look at the Pit Bros site and try to contact Diablo. He is in the process of getting foam wings made for his PP. He would be a good person to talk to regarding your question.

vsnap, do you know if the CA wings are uilt up or foam? from what i understand(and i may be wrong) the Planes Plus, Chip Hyde, and CA 34% extras were all made in the same factory. So how would i know the CA wings woudnt fall apart also? ( i am not bashing anyone who sells these planes). I have talked to chip and his wings are built the same wings as the PP and he said he wanted $225.00 + 20$ s/h for a set of wings in ARC form for his plane. I can get a Club member to cut my cores out and have scratch built foam wings ready to cover for about $75.00, what would you do?

JeeUm, thats the route I was leaning towards but i was wondering if making the wings out of foam for plane designed for built up wings would present any issues with the balance of the plane, flying charicteristics, or anything else that i should take into consideration before making a set of cores? I was also wondering if anyone else has done this before, what tips/tricks they could offer. the replies are much appreciated guys!

I am going to get some cores cut for this airplane soon by Bob Mellan at Flyingfoam.com. I am sending in a beater wing this week so he can get the measurements. After that I think he can cut them on order. He is going to cut the wingtube and servo wire tube also.

youngflyer, let's put it this way i do not know if she is in buisness anymore (i have heard rumors that she is not) but the promises that were made to me were not hard to keep and should have been kept. i know she has been through some hard times but a simple phone call would have curbed my displeasure with her and the company she represents. i like most people do like to get screwed over so i am done deailing and trying to get hold of her and am just trying to find an alternative way to get my plane back in the air. the plane flew great and weighed only 27# ready to fly but now winter is here and it's building season for me. I hope nobody else has to deal with this but even chip hyde said he has been recieving multiple calls about planes plus's wings falling apart. at this point i would rather take a whole winter to build a new set of wings than talk to carla. just how i feal sorry if i offend anyone.

ironic youngflyer, i have been waiting for wings since september 19th, was tols i'd have them in 3 days, i was also told that when i get them to dump a bottle of CA down the inside of each wing " just to be sure". in all reality, i dont want her wings cause i wouldnt trust them. I fly on a tight budget, i donot want to take a chance with a new set of wings that probally have the same issue, fly it twice and have it explode in the air, trash my da-100 and electronics or worse hurt someone. thats not really my idea of flying.
