It's all in the disk nowadays with this video stuff. How do you like studio 9? Never used it myself, but might be in the market for an upgrade.. Thanks man!

As for Studio 9, I have never used it. I bought Studio 10 because a guy I work with has it, and he loves it. From what I see, it is very user friendly, and can do a lot more than what I need it for. From what I have seen so far, I would recommend it. I am sure there are a lot of other programs out there that may be better, but for what we do, I think it will do a great job. | Lawn Dart Pilot ![]() | Max, here are two links for two of the machines I am looking at right now. If you don't mind, could you tell me if I need the 800 dollar machine, or will the other one be good enough? Neither one of these are what I mentioned before, but they are close enough. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...480771&CatId=0 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...139786&CatId=0 Thanks, Mike Darr |

| Stiiiiiiil Huckin'! | Mikey, here's my take on desktops - spend the extra cash and it will pay off, and you'll have a bomber system that will last you a good while. If you can afford it, throw a few more bucks at it - it will pay off in the long run. I take it you're into the video thing? Got kids? Take a bunch of digital pics? (always pays off in the justification department with wifey)! If so, it's all about hard drive speed, and video card. I immediately closed the emachines link, they are the Chrysler K-Car of computers. The other system is good for it's price, but the video card is way low end, and PCI based. Personally I would recommend very strongly going with a Dell. In my career, I've purchased and maintained literally thousands of 'em with a very low failure rate. Plus they will show up at your house with parts. Yes, they are more expensive, but their hardware is bomber. Give me a budget ($1300ish, nudge nudge) and I'll help you find something good. Do you need a monitor?

| Thanks for the Support! ![]() | With Video RAM is KEY.. 2 megs good, 4 megs BETTER!! The rendering and effects will go soo much faster. ANd get a 1 gig video card or at min a 512 video card. as Max said the better you can get the better video editing will be! ![]()

| Lawn Dart Pilot ![]() | Max, I am willing to spend up to 1500. My wife and I just had our first kid 5 months ago. Hence the reason for the new Sony Handicam. I definitley want a good machine, otherwise I might as well keep the one I have. I know very little about computers as far as what is good or bad. I can operate them just fine. I have a 21 inch tube flat screen monitor that I will keep for awhile. Later on, I would like to get a large LCD or whatever the hot ticket is at the time. Thanks for your help. Fire away with what I should buy. Thanks again, Mikie |

. Just get as much decent fast RAM as you can afford, its the cheapest way to get your machine running smooth and quick for editing...oh and turn off as much as you can in the background. IE , OE etc etc BTW cheers Pat for upping them here as well, even better res than the originals, Cheers Dude | |||||||||||||||

| Lawn Dart Pilot ![]() | Biff, I have got to say, the sequence was BAD ASS, all the way. That 3/4 roll down after the half square with the 2 of 4 on top was a bear. Even the best of the best were having a hard time completing it. They needed to get as much altitude as possible on the half square to pull it off. Then to top it off, there were speakers or something right where the guys would be doing the 2 of 4, and I think it scared most of them at least once. I remember watching QQ finish the 2 of 4 one time, then having to gain altitude, tottaly blowing the half square, just so he would have enough altitude to complete the 3/4 down. Totally kick ass. Of course I am a pattern pilot so I loved the sequence part. I know that watching pattern is like watching paint dry for the most part. Because of that, I was a little skeptical at first about the addition of the sequences. I ended up really enjoying what I thought would be a snore. I have had to make up sequences in the past, and it is not an easy job at all. Yours was very well thought out...for sure. I don't think I would have been able to do any better. In fact I know I wouldn't have even thought of some of the maneauvers, simply do to the size of the gym, they just don't seem possible at first. The ETOC just goes to show that pattern, freestyle, and IMAC are very much the same in some ways. I think we all do the same job, we just use different tools to do so. Now I know for a fact that you are a lawn darter deep down inside. How cool would it be to have a combined IMAC/Pattern event held at the Tripple Tree? I am talking about 40%ers, and our little 2 Meter jobs. As far as the sequences go, the pilots would be able to fly a 35%-40% or whatever IMAC legal plane, and/or a 2 meter pattern ship (Lawn Dart) in the same classes, in the same event. I think it would be very fair. I think 40% plane and a 2 meter pattern plane can fly the same maneauvers without either one of them having an advantage over the other. This event could still have a freestyle held. There are pilots out there that have flown 3D pattern planes in events before, and they performed very well. QQ did this at the 2002 U.S. Nationals in Muncie. He flew a PL Prod Excellence that had 3D sized control surfaces in what they were calling at the time Artistic Aerobatics. I would be surprised if you haven't seen the plane I am talking about. I have pics of it somewhere. I will look for them, and get them posted. Now for this to work, we would need to come up with new sequences for this event that are different than the IMAC and Pattern ones that we are flying. I guess we could treat it something like the Masters, or better yet, the Tucson Shootout. If it was done like the Shootout we could fly more classes than just FAI/Unlimited. Maybe fly the top three classes in this event. There would most likely need to be a selection process similar to the one used for the Shootout. Otherwise we would end up with more pilots than time to get all of the necessary flights in. I believe an event like this would be great for r/c as a whole. Also, it would bring the best of the best in pattern and IMAC together. I have been thinking about something like this for awhile. I have a passion for pattern and IMAC, and I believe I am not the only one that feels this way. Sorry for rambling on, and I hope I didn't hijack your thread, because that was not my intent. If this should be moved to another forum I understand. I look forward to hearing everyone else's opinion on this type of event. Do you even think it is possible? Thanks for reading, Mike Darr |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() ![]() | Mike, I'm the couch potatoe expert on all this. But I think the idea is beyond brilliant. Lots of reasons for saying that and better not discussed here or the thread will explode into something it was not intended to do. I think if you look at the core of RC guys who like flying IMAC you will find they all have a high respect for the Pattern Guys. And I think its vice versa. If your into any form of precision aerobatics then you automatically respect any form of that. F3A, IMAC, F3M. As for the indoor pattern events I think we are about to see a real growth in that realm. Firstly its not reliant on the weather any more. It does not cost $7000 just for the plane, let alone trailers, pickups etc etc. The list goes on. It will allow a lot more guys with the skills but not the cash to get into the serious side of the hobby and gain recognition that may take them into either the pattern or Imac scenes. But to join the two together into a special event would be like knocking down the Berlin wall again. For an event like that I would make the trip. Kiwi |
