I am happy, but kinda mad all in the same instance.... I was told at the JR indoor challenge by Spektrum that modules would NOT be happening period. Therefore over the winter I sold my 10X with the hope of a DX9 coming out by Toledo.... If it didn't come out by Toledo I would buy the DX7 even thought is programming capabilities are not totally adequate for my 40% mixing needs. I want the SS so i don't have to worry about being shot down AGAIN...... Now I learn that I could have kept my radio and all would be fine.... Don't get me wrong I am thrilled at this AMZING breakthrough, but kind upset/betrayed for my own individual plight. Ric |

Can someone comment on the antenna packaging? I mean does it hang out in the breeze as the pictures suggest? The only reason that I can see for this type of packaging is for someone who wants to swap modules back to 72 and so on. Is the the way most people will use it? Is there an option to improve (and have a cleaner) the antenna installation.

Ditto. I was given very detailed explanations of the problem of conversion. So, did we compromise??? I am concerned, and my trust level is obliterated. If there is difference...ANY difference in the timing, tell us about it in numbers. Not adjectives like "improved". Tell us if the next Spektrum purpose built radio will have better timing than the conversion ...and conversions take/add time...so, how did you get past it? Did You? I am happy this is out , but I feel like I have been duped into buying the "lower line" , while being told otherwise. IF I picked my customers pockets this way, I would be looking for new customers or I would have a lot of slightly used stock that I take back to keep them. Sorry for the negative view, but, I am not going to get personal about it. I would be happy with a clear explanation of the reversal of opinion, and honest reporting of the differences between the embedded radios and the modules, and if the embedded radio models will continue to progress. | ||||||||||||||||||

Those pics didn't help. Do you have pics of what this looks like with the module installed? I'm still imagining wires hanging off the back of the module.

Guys, regarding the speed of the system, the speed is similar to or faster than PCM systems. It is however, slower than systems built from the ground up with Spektrum like the DX7 and any future systems that may be developed from the ground up.

That is correct, there is a coax wire from the back of the module up to the antenna that gets mounted to the top of the system in place of the original 72 Mhz antenna.

I am glad I did not get a DX7. The writing was pretty much out there that something like this would happen. It will be a while before all the dust settles.

Thanks for clearing that up Danny. I was going to ask about the perceived "speed" of the system. I know that after changing everything over to the DX7 on my helicopters, there is no way I could go back. It has taken a bit to get adjusted because my timing was off on complex maneuvers, but it is so nice having that connection with the machine. If these aren't the same resolution/speed as the full bore Spektrum systems (which I don't expect them to be), I will wait for future transmitters instead of switching the 10X over. Telemetry in a new tranny? Sweet! Thank you Paul and everyone who was involved with the development of Spektrum. I can say the event I went to last weekend with around 100 pilots was an incredible joy not just because of the people who were there, but it was the first time I got to feel the difference of not having to chase down frequency pins all weekend. Thank you! -Ryan |
