OK guys here are the results from this weekend’s EMAC Contest. Everyone did a great job flying in the wind. Ok it was only about 10 mph but that is a lot for our field.

We had a great turnout with 21 registered pilots and even more spectators.

We gave away some really good prizes in the raffle. The way it worked this time is that all entrants got a free ticket. All those that did a job during the event got a ticket for helping. It seeemed to work out well so I think we'll keep doing it this way. Please make sure you thank and support the sponsors. they do a lot to make these events as good as they are.

Chris Hinson of ExtremeFlight donated one each of his famous YAK and Edge ARF kits. These included complete power packages.

Steve Neu of Neu Motors donated a motor

Golden Skies RC donated a Bampf aerobatic ARF

MadMax from the Flying Giants donated the ETOC DVDs and stickers that everone got. Max says he is actually going to compete in the next EMAC contest. I really hope he does, he is a fun guy to have around. By the way, the invitation is open to all the rest of you as well. The entire event is free!

Special thanks also go out to those who contributed their time on our behalf to make this event run so smoothly.

Tim Attaway served as CD and Chief Judge once again.

Other Judges included Pedro Brantuas, Bruce Brown, Ray Fulks, Stephan Viellard, Barry Mattingly.

Alfred Ramirez spent almost the entire day running the scoring computer with help from Steve Manganelli.

Leland and Dick Prentice manned the radio impound.

Of course the lunch was once again spectacular. Robert and Nora Ferro stayed up late the night before cooking and preparing the food. Robert boiled the bratwursts in beer. They were soooooo good!. Our beautiful hostesses Pam and Nora spent all day serving up the food and helping in a lot of other ways. Scott once again brought down the “Palapa bar”, provided the BBQ, and spent all day cooking up the burgers and bratwursts.

The basic class was hotly contested. Steve (sandbag) Neu once again claimed first place winning every round. The good news is that he only gets one more win and he will be forced to move up. Second place was a close battle between Randy Marsden and Craig Hunter. I have seen both of these guys out practicing a lot, it shows. Dickson lopez came out for the first time. Most of you know him as a super hot Heli pilot. He did great with almost no practice on airplanes, or the sequence. He will be one to watch in the future. Young cousins Chris and Lucas had a close contest with Lucas winning this one. Of course, Chris was flying with a thumb he broke a couple of days before while sking. Craig Bosworths new plane did not arrive in time for the event, so he bravely flew a Mini Ultra Stick. He did pretty darn good with it too!

Results BASIC
Steve Neu 3000.00
Randy Marsden 2870.64
Craig Hunter 2703.77
Dickson Lopez 2662.93
Doug Rubin 2658.85
Steve Manganelli 2556.84
Rob Ferro 2537.91
Lucas Worthen 2454.77
Chris Boutelle 2351.35
John Garrison 2266.20
Craig Bosworth 2017.70
Roy Raphael 1996.92
Hong Chen 1940.58

Pedro and his big QQ YAk once again were unbeatable in Sportsman. Bruce Brown got close this time in his new AirWild. I think once he gets it dialed in he will be able to give Pedro a run for first place. Stephan barely edged out Mike Root for third. They shared Mike's new Fliton Inspire, that plane flies really straight! Howard Pilcher and I called for each other and brought up the rear. Howard edged me out because I suck, and always screw up one manuever really bad. I am sure Howard would have fiished higher up except he was distracted by his cell phone ringing over and over during the second round. Someone wanted to talk to him real bad, I'm betting it was the wife. I almost reached in his pocket and answered it. However, I thought my hand in such a sensitive area might be an even bigger distraction so I didn't. Howard, turn off the phone next time.

Results SPORTSMAN

Pedro Brantuas 3000.00
Bruce Brown 2902.67
Stephan Viellard 2756.24
Mike Root 2748.73
Ray Fulks 2648.73
Howard Pilcher 2636.24
Steven Dente 2633.55

Let the bench flying begin, see you all at the next event!

I feel for you. We had two brush fires here over the weekend, but we only get small scale. !/2 hour operation normally. Stay safe, stay down hill and up wind.

Thanks for the awesome pics and the DVDs you brought, Max.

Also thanks to Golden Skies RC, Extreme Flight, and Neu Motors for the unbelievable raffle prizes. And thanks to Steve and all the volunteers for putting on a great event.

It was a sweet day at the flying field.

(Just a touch windy for the Mini Ultra Stick, but sweet all the same...)
