2007 is turning out to be one hell of a year for the hobby. Great new motors, airplanes and now radios.

Badass! Re: FlyingGiants Exclusive! Introducing The Futaba 12FG, Modules & More!

I love the fact that Futaba also released modules for their existing radios. I bet this summer the frequency board will not be used so much at contests.

12 channel radios coming, adapt your old radio with a module and no wires going to a buddy box ect. I just love Futaba and I believe they are leading the pack yet again!!!

Now you can use the full function of your 14mz on 2.4. Why would you want to run your 14mz and only get 8 channels?

This will be shown in Toledo and will be available to the public late spring early summer!!

Team Futaba!!!!
Garrett,

Are you saying that on the 14MZ I wouldn't have to set it to transmit on ppm, that the Futaba module will work when I set the transmitter to transmit in SPCM2048 mode?

This is a great example how market forces drive companies into using technology they didn't want to use on their own, even though they already have them.

Futaba could have done 2.4GHz 10 years ago if they thought it's such a great idea. Instead they spent their resources on PCM G3.

The market all of a sudden goes crazy and if a product doesn't say "2.4GHz" on it, it's junk.

So Futaba goes back and implements 2.4GHz (which they could have done long time ago). It seems that even the 14MZ wasn't designed with 2.4GHz in mind - hence the extra antenna on the module...

What about the "Wire fence will cause a loss of signal" disclaimer in the Futaba 2.4GHz radio manual ?

The fields I fly at all have wire fencing.... it makes me wonder.

I want to see if JR is going to stick to its 72MHz only guns.

Actually hard to say they were ever out of it. Futaba have been building spread spectrum radio systems for 15 years. The fact they took a few weeks longer to get a product on the market that has all 14 channels available, no jumper cable and the antenna built into the module says they had this coming for a very long time. They didnt build this stuff last weekend. It had to be a few good years in development.

You dont need to send your 14 or 12 back for any upgrades, they are compatible right out of the box.

That 12 looks super dang cool.
