From the press release, the plug in modules will work at the 2048 speed. When I switched over this winter to 2048 I was amazed at how I was out in front on all my inputs. I felt way more connected to the plane. Futaba has set the bar high!

| USAGE PRECAUTIONS 1. Special attention must be paid before turning on the transmitter while other models are running or flying because the 2.4GHz system may affect them. 2. If there is a special regulation for using 2.4GHz radio systems at your flying site, please obey all regulations to enjoy safe flying with your 2.4GHz system. 3. 2.4GHz is very different than the frequencies we currently use. Please keep the model in sight at all times as large objects can block the RF signal. Please keep in mind that objects such as wire fences and wire mesh will also cause loss of signal. 4. NEVER grip the transmitter antenna when flying as this degrades RF quality and cause loss of control. The above is lifted straight from the isers manual. What the heck does the manual mean when it says that mesh or wire fences will cause loss of sgnal?? Does that mean if the fence gets ibetween the model on the tx or does it mean if the fence is in the vicinity of the model being operated?? Its a little bit vauge.

Yes, but the communication between the TX and the module - if that is PPM, it will be slower (weakest part of the chain), than a native 2.4Ghz. Same problem with the Spectrum modules. Here is a pic I made btw of how I imagine it would look installed:

Slow? From my understanding of transmitter function, PPM is faster than any of the PCM systems out there, however you don't get the security of PCM function. The PPM systems, being strictly FM, are a "direct drive system", with no computation involved, IE: no processing involved in the output. Anytime you have processing involved, there will be "some" latency. I'm sure if I have a misunderstanding of transmitter function someone will correct me in short order.

When using the 12Z & 14MZ modules the processing speed will be equal to the current systems. You can figure everything that the 12 & 14 does now, will continue with the 2.4 FASST modules. Futaba isn't using the trainer port like on the other system. Therefore it will be as Fasst as the 2048 we are currently using. Nice photochop, it shows that even if you use a tray like myself it will be no problem. I applaud Futaba for the first class execution of the upgrade for all their current customers as well as launching new complete systems for the hobbyist as well. They are leading the way in looking out for their customers who have invested heavily in their products. I'm very proud to be associated with Team Futaba. I can't wait for Toledo

Not sure this got posted yet (probably did) but here it is again to keep it current: Futaba FASST!!!!!!! details here: http://2.4gigahertz.com/radios/futk9275.html http://2.4gigahertz.com/modules/futl7637.html This is such a cool thing, I'm figuring out right now just how much I can afford!! Defintely a module for the 14MZ and several 14 channel RXs. And what the heck, maybe a 12FG just cause it looks so damn cool!!!!! Team Futaba

Great news today for sure! I think they mean if the fence is inbetween the tx and rx but I am not positive. I have been testing the 6 version of the FASST next to my all steel metal hangar at work (airport) with no problems at all. Also flown indoors with a bunch of steel structure with no issues. The 2.4 stuff is line of sight so we have to be keep that in mind. Of course, most of us if not able to see the plane have lost it already anyway Also given the history of frequency control, some clubs enforce the pin rule even with the 2.4 stuff to help prevent accidents from happening due to being in the habit of getting a pin every time. Also, new people "not knowing" what is going on using a standard 72 meg system, may think it is ok to just turn on and go like the guy next to him just did with the 2.4 radio... Will B.

Not positive, but I think the ppm is like 1024 speed. Might need to cross check that though. The new 2.4 FASST speed as stated in several areas above is similar to the 2048 speed which is very fast. Switch from 1024 to 2048 and you will under snap your snaps till you get used to the faster speed. Will B.
