Installing a module that communicates with the TX using PPM is a step in the wrong direction. I annoys me that Futaba does not provide this information. If it indeed use PPM, one might just aswell choose Spectrum modules.

If you want to know on the other series radios I bet if you post on the RCU Futaba support forum they will answer. It would be nice if they did that here on the giants... but I have always had really good support and fast responses on their forum on RCU. Maybe someone can post int he Futaba fliers club too? I am still waiting for my registration. Anyway - Toledo will be very interesting for sure. I bet JR will have something as well. Soon we're gonna be overwhelmed with choices! | ||||||||||||||||||

Shiny new twin cylinder motor ........... $2600 Big shiny comp-arf extra .............. $4000 10 high torque digital servos ................ $1400 carbon propellor ....................... $170 Being immune from being shot down by the geriatric pensioner who shares your frequency ................................. priceless. Disclaimer. The above prices are approximations in Australian dollars.

Well if PPM causes the channel limit to be 8 i think it's obvious they are not using PPM, The picture of the new radio clearly shows PCM G3 PCM 2048 2.4 GHZ.Later it says modules turn 12z 14mz into FASST 2048 2.4 GHZ with more features than the 12FG offers. I assume the 9C may be limited to 1024 resolution as that is what it transmits. I even thought I read the new module uses PCM.

Hmmm - the plot thickens! Again, if using PPM, I will get a Spectrum module just in spite!

Tor, I'm not the full bullet on all the features with the new system but I have some idea of whats in it. The 14MZ and 12Z modules apparently will use the native Futaba pin out so your going to have 2048 resolution on either PPM or PCM. I dont see what all the fuss is really about as both a extremely fine resolution. Correct me if I'm wrong here but the 2048 and 1024 refers to the maximum steps recognised within the radio of each of the gimbals. The modules in the 12 and 14 are currently able to use that and transmit it. Thats why if you cut back your ATV your really killing your resolution. That has nothing to do with whats being transmitted, it just means you have narrowed the amount of steps you can send to the servo. In short a measure of how fine your contol can be. Funny thing is most of todays top servos are only good for 900 or so steps. Work that one out. Now latency is an altogether other story. Thats the time it takes for the signal to be recognised, digitized and transmitted. PPM is raw and fast. PCM is packets, coded, shaken and rattled and transmitted. If the numbers dont match you get a lock out or fail safe. The G3 Futaba system got PCM to outstanding transmission times. Twice as fast as the conventional PPM in fact. So the 2.4 system should have reduced latency, faster data processing (2048). I dont see how the other guys system can be better or worse in any way what so ever, plus it will only be an 8 channel system and not 14. If I was that pedantic about it I would buy a 7 channel and save some funds. Guys we will try to get a Futaba rep in here to help answer your questions in much better detail but please remember these guys are home tonight, its Easter Friday here tomorrow so thats a holiday and likely a black hole for information as well. If however we locate a guru lets give him a chance to come in and answer your concerns accordingly. Kiwi |
