Im with Zivo on this one, got a H9 33% CAP that would benefit from the aformentioned dream setup.

This rig seems like a great idea and definitely has a spot in the food chain. I would install this on my 28% WH Extra but its already rigged out and flight ready. If I were to build another 30% or smaller bird this would be the ideal setup for it.

nice work and I look forward to a setup for my bigger birds which im sure they will produce.

2 Aileron servos, singles on each elevator half and a single rudder with 2 extra servos on the ing and the throttle. Add deans, build in the reg and keep the switch simple and ill buy 2 right now!

I have 7 8711's plus an 8417 that is going into a certain Python of questionable span and length. I've not had a regulator or any other electronic on-board gadget ever and after all I've read, the people-in-the-know say I'll need one with this many 8711's. I like what I've read about this new Smart-Fly all in one goodie but I have a question: In all the pics I've seen there is always a Futaba RX sitting in the tray of one of these red boards. Are these for Futabas only or will a JR 955 go in one?

Is this combined product any different than using just my RX on a 35% bird as far as voltage is concerned?

If its no worse than the RX.......Then that is what I want! I get the noise filter, the regulators, extra channel inputs and the optical kill all in one.

I forgot to ask those that have been running it.......does it include the batt share technology when you run 2 batteries?
Well, the concern I would have on a 35% bird, with this particular unit, is current-carrying ability through the battery connectors. There appears to be only two standard futaba-type receptacles for battery power. That's only about 6-7 amps continuous capacity, with no way to increase it. On my simple receiver setups, I run a 10ch receiver with every open port filled. Four of those ports are battery power, which allows for 12-16 amps continuous draw with little to no voltage drop.
I love the idea of this unit. If it had a couple extra battery ports, I'd be sold.

Bodywerks,

The idea of this unit is the 25% to 30% gas sized planes with single servos on each flying surface. They are a very common sized model these days and the guys stepping up from glow to a 50cc or likewise sized plane will never have an issue with current capacity or the capabilities of this device.

Your spot on with the 3 amp continuous rating for the JR type plugs. But they can handle 7 amps for a short burst and you will never ever find a plane that runs 14 amps on any flight surface for more than a few milliseconds. The actual maximum current draw is with the servo moving, not holding. Holding current is actually quiet minimal. I know we all say the same thing. I have seven servos on my plane and they can all draw 3 amps. Thats 21 amps correct. But what do you need to do to your servo to get that 3 amp load.

I really doubt in the worst possible case that you can get maximum air loads on all surfaces at the exact same time. Heck the most aggressive snap in the world does not fully load all the flight surfaces to the maximum. As soon as the plane starts to rotate the load comes off.

Down and dirty 3D is likely the place where the least air loads ever take place. Ailerons are only effective within the prop blast area. The elevators are only in the prop blast and thats nothing like the forces it takes at 80 mph. The rudder while being fast is again really lightly loaded.

There is no doubt and its explained clearly that this unit is NOT intended for a 10 servo setup with 400 oz servos hauling on it. Thats clearly stated and should be well understood. But I assure you that your 35% plane with 200 oz servos will not see an issue using this PEX. A standard setup with say two 2400 MaH packs feeding this with heavy duty servo wire leads will more than suffice.

If your going to be pulling those 7 to 10 amp moves all the time your battery pack life is going to be in minutes, not hours and we all know that a 30% plane on a dual 2400 MaH system is good for a days flying. That tells me you don't see those 10 amp loads much, if ever.

But if you need more capacity then there's the bigger versions available to suit that need. This one is not a fix it all for everything. Its designed for sports sized gassers up to 35% depending on the servo setup.

Plus I think we all believe that these are only for 3D planes and stick bashing but there are hundreds of scale war birds and fun flyer's that will benefit enormously from a system as simple, neat and cost effective as this. Gas planes are certainly not limited to IMAC or 3D.

Is a Battshare incorporated in the unit?
(To pull both Rx batteries down equally).
