Maybe his plane flew apart as it did last year.......

No I just found the answer, he had a flameout and had to land.

He had a couple of maneuvers left when his motor died, doing an aileron roll on landing approach caused the whole round to be "0'd"

Was it because he had to do an aileron roll at the second to land upright because he was to low at the time the engine went out or did he do an aileron roll just to do one. That would deserve a zero.
