| Sleepy's step and fetch ![]() | How many people including myself thought that it would be impossible to hover a turbine powered aircraft (non-turbo prop) in the nose vertical orientation and be able to maintain some semblance of control? Well, once again we, the skeptics have been proven wrong. Sebastiano Silvestri, The Italian Aero Genius has done it again. Can you believe this thing? I saw Rolf fly his 3D Chinese fighter at Joe Nall, and that was absolutely impressive. But, to see this, a scale model, with omni-directional thrust vectoring and the power of a Ferrari on Steroids is absolutely just mind boggling. To make it even more incredible is the size, and the modifications made to make this Russian vodka burner scream. Seba’s Mig began its life as a Comp-Arf MIG 29, and was highly modified from the wing back thus creating the MIG 29 OVT. The real MIG has many differences from the standard combat issued model. Many of the changes are in the airframe, and power systems themselves, creating a hugely maneuverable high tonnage fighter. Changes congruent in the model, as well as the full scale include the vector system, as well as wing tips, rudder and elevators. The model itself is also running the new Comp-Arf hydraulic landing gear strut setup to add strength, realism, and reliability. The model took over a year to construct according to Seba. He adds it is now identical to the original 1:1 model. This model was built to compete in the World Jet Masters in Ireland where he placed in a distinguished 6th place. There is a reason why they call it the World Jet Masters, and Seba was quite fortunate to win a couple of rounds with this remarkable aircraft. Here is a little information on the equipment and setup of this remarkable craft. JR 10X 1 Single receiver JR R1000 13 JR Digital Servos 1 Power Box 40/24 Li-Po version 4 Flight Power battery packs 1500 mah 2S 25C. 2 for the power box, and 2 for the ECUS 1 gyro with 2 axis. 1 axis is for aileron, and the other is for thrust vector/rudder 2 JET CAT P-160SE w/ JET CAT vectoring systems on both 1 Comp-Arf Set of hydraulic landing gear Flying functions are as follows: Aileron Elevator Ailevator Ground steering on rudder Retracts Thrust vectoring in any darn direction he pleases (NOW THAT’S WAY BAD-ASS) Weight per SEBA is 19.980KG dry or a little over 43 pounds Seba states, “This thing has unbeatable performance, just like the real one”. “I have flown 15 flights with it with full satisfaction”, “ I love the way it flys, it is simply the best toy I have ever had in my hands”. Watching this thing only makes me think, where does it go from here? We have seen the big B-52, the F 117, the incredible sport jet revolution, and so many other way cool changes in the turbine genre. This has to be an absolute high point in my 27 years of flying these things. I am excited for the future of this great hobby, and perhaps if I am lucky, I shall witness SEBAS MIG in person some day.
