You have been my personal hero for years and a major inspiration to many of us!! thank you!!

Please tell me how do you remain so dedicated to the hobby because I am 20 and have been flying for several years but lately are having many social distractions putting pressure on my hobby time and frustrating my Dad that has been supporting me over these years. what keeps you going???

Congrats QQ. You are truely a role model.

I have a simple question. I've heard your name pronounced many different ways: Key-Key, Kwe-Kwy, Kikki...

How do you say it?

Jon

Thank you everybody for the post and all your too nice comments!. I am a modeller like all of you and very passioned for airplanes!.Donatas very nice pictures and nice memories!. All my friends from Victoria, yes I will be there flying hopefully some of your Pythons and why not the Ultimate that has been so fun too fly. Once again thank you all for the very nice comments they all means a lot to me.

Let's go to the questions:
SargeNZ question: During practice for Pattern or IMAC compeitions, I often find it hard to concentrate on working at a maneuver all day just getting it 'perfect' - Are there any tips or tricks to how practices are structured or broken down so that you get the most effective use of the air time?
I think every one is different about how to practice. Bottom line is you have to do what you feels best for you and what makes more sense and give you better performance. What I do is I fly first fly as I am competing in the contest, I fly the complete sequence and try my very best. That flight will tell me where I am. If mistakes are small I will do next flight an other complete sequence and see how it goes. If I see improvements I keep doing complete sequences but if I see a maneuver or a series of maneuver that needs to be polish it out I will practice along. I try to get 3 to 4 maneuvers to practice on a single flight so I can use better my time. Take care. Quique

QQ,
Congratulations to you on your win at the worlds, also congratulations to JAS and Animal for their success as well. QQ you are one heck of pilot and very cordial guy even though you can fly circles around us with your eyes closed you will always be on top of the industry because of your efforts to share your time with the local guys.
Below is a photo of you that has endured you to my son and I forever.
Just proves that to get help from QQ you don’t have to fly a YAK.
Congrats.

Quique,

Wow. Congrats on all that you have accomplished in RC.
I have a question about IMAC. Does flying a Pattern plane make flying an Extra, Edge, Python easier in IMAC? Or does flying one of them make flying a Pattern plane easier? I am just starting in IMAC and my son wants to fly also so I am trying to find the best route and planes to practice with.
Thanks for being here on the FG and talking with us

Bruce

What is best way to adjust F3A plane to get best flying characteristics from him. I understand this question require long explanation, but maybe you have some basic rules pilots need to follow?

Also one more quick question if you don't mind. I always hear discussions from pattern pilots about flight modes (for different flight conditions, rolling circles/snap rolls/spins) , are they necessary in F3A and do you use them? Thank you for your time.

Trimming an airplane is as important as piloting the airplane. F3A, IMAC, Free Style, sport airplane they all need to be trimmed at very best. Better is the trimming easier will be to fly and maneuver your airplane. Your performance will increase as well your consistency. This is the principle I always follow. I always look carefully for CG what it is best compromise CG. Check tracking during loops and corners. Check couplings. Work hard to get the most "lock in" feeling. Donatas this is a very basic principle. Sorry I can not extend more but it will be too long answer!!

About flying modes are different way to fly. I do not think there is a rules as we all feel different our airplanes while we are flying. I can tell you my personal fliht mode for F3A. Normal flight (use for general flying, snaps) Spin mode (use for spins and stall turns) rolling circle (use for rolling circle, rolling loops) landing mode.
Take care. Quique

I am not an expert on this and my writing is getting to the bottom of the page!! sorry I am learning.
Thank you guys for the very nice comments you keep posting, I am very thankful.
Next question:
I noticed you are switching into biplanes, I heard you will compete with your Pitts Python, and you even won the F3A with a biplane (Oh..I forgot to mention your bype Yak you used in ETOC). As a biplane lover, I find this exciting. Can you share with us the reasons why you are now switching to biplanes?
Main reason is I like biplanes as you do too!. I think the Euphoria is the first biplane to win a World Championships.I believe biplanes presents very well and they have better definition of each individual maneuver. With the correct design a biplane can have all the good characteristics of a monoplane (good penetration, look in feel, tracking, good in the wind) and also the good characteristics of the biplanes such presentation, definition of maneuvers like snaps, spins. Also greater yaw authority, greater side lift which results in better rolls, rolling circles and rolling loops. I've been working hard for the last 5 years with biplanes to fine tune my knowledge about them. I feel biplanes keeps me very exited and their feeling is very unique and very unlimited. Take care. Quique

Hello Quique,

The first time I was able to see you fly was at the 1998 TOC. That planted the seed for my love of large models and the challenge to go beyond "sport flying". You were very nice and took the time to say hello to many of the spectators. I still have the hat you signed for me.

Congratulations on your career and this latest achievement as they are very well deserved.

Here is my question. I know you are well aware that many in the hobby look up to you as a model. Was there anyone in your past, as you were learning, that was a model for you? Another competitor or modeler that you read about or saw fly that inspired you to excel?

Thank you so much for taking the time. I am glad you adopted country has welcomed you warmly.
