Default Re: The Godfather Speaks. Right here on FG.

Question from Mattrisks: Here is my question.
How many hours are you practising a week usally?

When I was a teenager (long time ago!)I flew a lot, I mean a lot. Almost everyday at least 3 to 5 flight a day. Weather in my home country almost allowed me to fly all year around. With time experience replace a bit the practice so right now my practice time is much less. Also life limited time, family, business and more responsibility. At the present what I spend most of my time at the field is setting my airplanes up to find the very best of each airplane. For the world championships I practiced more than what I've been doing lately. One complete month every week day (weather allowing, actually only rain stop!) 4 to 6 flights a day. Big contest such TAS or Don Lowe Master I practice close to that number. Counting number of hours around 2 to 3 hs a day. The rest of the year is very light. A lot of travelling!. Basically I fly in the shows. Thank you Mattrisks. Quique

Adrian I think all of us goes through similar situation to yours. My situation perhaps is a bit different as I make my leaving from model airplanes, but even though I need the energy to keep going to keep my motivations up and strong. At the end we all need motivations to keep our self exited of what we do. In my case my motivation has been always the same and so far I am not getting tired!. Learn, learn and learn!. I still learning and I m sure I will die learning!. Take care, Quique

QQ,
The first time I saw you fly was at Camp Jeep 2001. You were very gracious then and now. You are maybe the best representation of our sport that I have seen. Thank you for all that you have given this sport and its participants.

Todd

Big congratulations Quique. I was at our flying field the final day of the contest. Max showed up to get some flights. I asked him if results were announced and he said not yet. Anyway, after an hour of flying, I just could not stop thinking about the results so I packed and headed home. I jumped in front of the computer there I got the news! WOW what moments!

As many of you know, I have had the pleasure for the last couple of years to work very closely with Quique and his company. What I would like to mention about Quique is he is the most open minded person I have met! Key to his success is his consistency, down to earth character and he is all ears when you talk to him even if you are criticizing something related to him! I have not once heard him talk negative about anyone or anything and trust me we talk on regular basis! Not once a negative word out of this man’s mouth!

Years from now we may forget who won what but one thing remains with us all is the perception we have from people! Be humble, be open minded, be consistent, don’t give up and have the decency to see the better and you shall succeed in your life, in flying and in people’s hearts! Quique is that person! I am very much honored to know such person!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do and how you do it to excel this hobby of ours in every way you can!>

Quique,
I just want to thank you for being such a great influence on the sport/hobby that I love.

In this day and age it is so common to see arrogance and unpleasant behavior in public figures, you are a breath of fresh air and an inspiration.
I have always seen you as a class act. You reap what you sow in this life.

I do hope that my two young sons get to see you fly someday in person and we get to shake your hand.

I am a fan of you as a pilot and a Man.

I wish you and your family the best.

How old are your children/ Do they fly? Any thoughts on introducing children (3 and 5 in my case) to RC? My boys have not shown a huge interest nor sufficient maturity to fly yet...I am hoping.

thanks again

David Poles

Bruce thank you very much for your post and comments.
I think F3A (pattern) will make you to fly better any type of airplane. Most of top fliers compete in pattern or if some of them do not compete they fly them at home for practice. Finesse, style, geometry smoothness shines when you fly pattern ship. These are true principle of the aerobatic and for sure very helpful for any kind of aerobatic you are practicing.
I will encourage your son to practice pattern, for sure if Luciano or Sebastian my sons likes to fly model airplane that will be the class I will advise them to practice. Take care. Quique

I have a question about IMAC. Does flying a Pattern plane make flying an Extra, Edge, Python easier in IMAC? Or does flying one of them make flying a Pattern plane easier? I am just starting in IMAC and my son wants to fly also so I am trying to find the best route and planes to practice with.
Thanks for being here on the FG and talking with us

Bruce

OK guys and Gals and especially Quique and all the other great competitors and friends I meet with in Argentina. I admit to sandbagging or getting lazy on the aftermath of that great week and this new front page article has pretty much shamed me into getting the backside into gear and showing you all what a really fantastic time it was. I have a few hundred photos and have selected the best to share here in this thread..

If anyone wants the originals in HD then please PM me and I will Email them off to you.

However first off Quique, you done it mate. I have that look on your face on that final day etched in my mind forever. If determination alone decides the winner then you won that event as well. But putting all the serious stuff aside, and there was ten days of that, the friendships and absolute relief when an event that big is all over becomes obvious. There is a lot at stake to win something this big, there's always the speculation and couch potato gallery trying find an illicit collaboration or some reason to dispute the outcome. But let me tell you, once you see the way the finals of that event are judged and scored and collated it all comes down to the best man on the day wins. Quique old mate, you deserved it, you were on a mission and thats all that mattered. Thats why you have that cup and that certificate to frame and cherish for the rest of your life. No one else is World Champion F3A 2007 other then you.

But as I said earlier once the nitty gritty is over with you see the game faces come off and the old friends enjoying the same hobby come out. Thats what I hope to portray in the following photos.

Credit must go to Mr Colin McGinn, one of the principal owners of Flight Power and a guy I can truly call a good friend after spending the week in his company at the championships. This guy has an evil eye with a camera and Colin has willing sent me his top shots to share here on FG with you all.

Colin, thanks a lot mate. Your not too bad for a Pommie after all.

If a photo ever tells a story then one says it all.

Is this guy happy or what??
