How do you design your new planes like the Brio, Euphoria? What do you start with? Basic proportions or just sketch something that looks about right and then adjust it to your needs.

When flying a new design it sometimes pitches and rolls. If you would make a second version what would you do to tweak this out and when, for eg. if it pitches to the belly what would you change?

Congrats for your passion! Keep up! You were the one that started Yak 54 obsession and my biggest dream is to get the 3W or your Yak!

Congratulations to you Quique and the US team for a wonderful performance.

I live in Miramar, Argentina which is located next to the ocean. It is pretty windy year round. My question is, what is the maximum wind that is acceptable for practicing either F3A, IMAC or your invention 3D . Thank you so much.

Reza you are very generous with your comments and also very generous with your time. Thank you very much.
Reza, you gave to our company an outstanding communication with our customers. We appreciate very much what you do every hour for us at QQAC and for our customers.
You are a great and very valuable friend of mine from which I have learned so much.
For those that do not know Reza as pilot, let me tell you one thing, boy he can fly!!.
Take care. Quique

As many of you know, I have had the pleasure for the last couple of years to work very closely with Quique and his company. What I would like to mention about Quique is he is the most open minded person I have met! Key to his success is his consistency, down to earth character and he is all ears when you talk to him even if you are criticizing something related to him! I have not once heard him talk negative about anyone or anything and trust me we talk on regular basis! Not once a negative word out of this man’s mouth!

Years from now we may forget who won what but one thing remains with us all is the perception we have from people! Be humble, be open minded, be consistent, don’t give up and have the decency to see the better and you shall succeed in your life, in flying and in people’s hearts! Quique is that person! I am very much honored to know such person!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do and how you do it to excel this hobby of ours in every way you can!>
Reza

Thumbs up Re: The Godfather Speaks. Right here on FG.

Hey Quique,
Any chance you will every release the 44% Python as a production model? Can't wait to see the 100 cc fly in person! It sounds like it's awesome!

Thanks for also being a true role model in not only believing in certain morals, standards, and values but living every day of your life as such! Hats off to you for being a fine gentleman, on and off the field!

Wayne and Reza, you are awesome folks as well. Thanks for all the behind the scenes support!

QQ Aircraft Company is the best!

Regards,

Tom

Thank you JimC for your nice comments. I do have very good memories as you do from TOC's and as happened to you the TOC was one of my inspiration as well. When I was a beginner I dreamed to compete at TOC.
The year I learned to fly (1977) was the year that Hanno Prettner won his first World Championships here in Springfield, Ohio the town that I live now. Hanno was my biggest inspiration and it was even more when I sow him flying live for the first time back in 1983 in W/C (Pensacola Fl.) Amazing pilot. Hanno was my main inspiration and I also admired the talent of Dave Brown and Mark Radcliff. An other person that inspired me and still doing is Ivan Kristensen a great person and flier.
USA has been very warmly and my family and me are very thankful with the States.
Take care. Quique

Congratulations on your career and this latest achievement as they are very well deserved.

Here is my question. I know you are well aware that many in the hobby look up to you as a model. Was there anyone in your past, as you were learning, that was a model for you? Another competitor or modeler that you read about or saw fly that inspired you to excel?

Thank you so much for taking the time. I am glad you adopted country has welcomed you warmly.

Hi Quique, it was an honor to meet you at Santa Fe, it was the first time in my life that see you fly live. Before that I`ve only saw you in videos
My question is:
What is the better way to set up or test my CG on an Pattern aircraft.

Quique, you are credited with inventing 3D aerobatics. With any new type of flying, especially something as different as 3D, there is a certain amount of resistance/questioning at its introduction. I remember someone at my flying field complaining "real planes don't fly like that!" when I was torque rolling my model back before 3D became really mainstream. It seemed to some to be "silly."

Did you have any reservations about 3D when you started flying it, any questions as to whether or not it would catch on?

Secondly, 3D has become very mainstream now, it's no longer limited to only a handful of pilots. The same could be said for giant scale aerobatics. Do you have any idea what the next "big thing" might be?

Thanks for all you've done for the hobby. You're truly a visionary, and I especially like what you said about foamies bringing RC to a completely new audience. I agree completely!

Dear Quique,

Congratulations on becoming World Champion.

You have been an inspiration to me over the years watching and judging your flying at the US Nationals. I would greatly appreciate your opinion and input on a couple of topics regarding Pattern/F3A.
  1. You have competed at the highest level in F3A over the years with both glo and e-power, given the current maneuver trends and available aircraft design do you see an advantage of glo vs. electric?
  2. The last 2 seasons I have been using APC 4-blade props on my DZ-160 powered pattern aircraft, and have recently upgraded to the 170. I noticed at the NATS the 4 blade on your aircraft was a modified APC. I assume you used a similar prop at the WC's. What was the original size and what modifications did you make? What was the value-added benefit of the modifications?
  3. What should one work on who aspires to move from AMA Masters pattern class to FAI and be competitive at the US Nationals?
Thanks in advance...

Quique,

Congratulations on your great win.

I began competing seriously in IMAC this year and was fortunate enough to make it to the Tucson Shootout and I can say without a doubt that I am hooked on precisions competition.

My question is this:

I went in to the Shootout feeling well prepared and I truley believed I would put up my best rounds as I had addressed all the rough areas in my flying and tuned them to be flying the best I had ever flown. Well I had no idea what a massive event Tucson was and I have to admit I did not put up my best rounds and I did not feel as concentrated as I could have been. How did you, or do you deal with the "Nerves" involved in a big contest. What do yo do to stay focused?

Second,
One day as I move up, my goal is to be able to compete in the Freestyle event. How do you go about putting your Freestyle routine together.

Regards,

Mike Root
