Hello all,

Extremely large congatulations to you, Quique! First moment when I started to recognise you was ETOC 2004 and from that time it was very nice to see you on high standing in many competitions and on many event coverages. I wish someday I will see your competing/demo flights live.

My questions to you:
1. Simple question: how have you got involved in this hobby? (what was your first plane, how have you learned the basics of flying)
2. What about full scale 3D? Can you judge from your experience with full scale aircraft if 3D aerobatics will be possible (in the fashion they are in RC) soon with manned aircraft?

Thanks a lot!

Sorry Madmax, it is not Enriquez but Enrique, no Z. Quique is just a nickname for Enrique (Henry in English)

Hi Marcelo and Gianfranco you got it!. Mario Enrique Somenzini. My dad and me had same name. At home I was called Quique to be different from Dad. In Spanish the nick name for Enrique is Quique like here is Bob for Robert for example. Sorry Pedro you were close but is Enrique and not Enriquez!.

Marcelo and GianFranco flew to Las Vegas back then in 94 to the TOC as well they spend many hours with us at home as went to theirs and we enjoy them as well. Thank you very much for coming up and say hi and warm comments, they mean a lot to me.

Un abrazo para todo San Juan, un brazo al Gustavo y al Ingeniero! Cuidense. Quique

Hello QQ, as a big fan of yours and your airplane designs, I was wondering do you look for any specific goal to meet in regards to a wing loading # (or cubic wing loading) when designing 3D aircraft?
It seems like a compromise to build a plane that can harrier & hover well, and at the same time have enough mass or weight to do tumbling moves with the best of them. I'm probably 100% wrong on this, but thought I would ask.

Merry Christmas to you and your family

Mr. Boex, for your correction and knowledge, and to make myself feel better about butchering QQ's middle name in front of thousands, we'll send you out a care packet! Please PM your address to user Momo.

One hour left before we cut off the Q&A! Get 'em in folks!

You couldn't write a better storybook ending!

Over the past several years we have had the pleasure of getting to know you on a personal and business basis. Witnessing your passion and dedication to the hobby has been truly amazing.

For the last two years you have donated your time to come and fly for us at ‘Victoria’s Largest Little Air Show', an event that we sponsor along with other local companies. To date the airshow has raised over $67,000.00 for local charities. Being as busy as you are and taking the time away from your work (and more importantly your family) to help us is so appreciated. THANK YOU.

The Duralite Team

Thank you for your comments. My dad was my big support and my mentor. Together we worked for many years. My first airplane was a scratch and own line trainer that my Dad buil for me back in 77. He coach and teach from building, tune engines, design airplanes to flying. Later on I grew and do it by my self but with a strong school.
I think 3D aerobatic in on the target of some full size aerobatic pilots. Some of them are doing some maneuvers. I believe in the future we are going to see more and more. Now as much a model can do I do not know about that.
Take care Quique

Quique,
Thank you for your time answering all these questions for us! Also, I really enjoyed watching you fly at the RDRC Fly For Tots this year. Here's a picture that I took of one of your flights:

My question is, with the advent of 3D flight, electric flight, and RC websites, what do you forsee as the future driving force behing RC?

Thanks!
Chris Todd

The target is to get the right wing loading. Like you say if the airplane is too light will do some things but not other and same if it is too heavy. I do not use a rule I base my decisions on my experience of previous designs and power plant to use. I found that I can do more variarity of 3D maneuver if I have an airplane that is slighly heavier wing loading and a lot of power than an other airplane that is very light wing loading a shorter in power. Even a combination of very light wing loading and a lot of power might not do as much as a bit heavier wing loading airplane. An other factor to consider is the wind that can play an important role on the overall performance. When I design an airplane I always think in the wind. Most of the time we fly with some kind of wind or even medium to strong winds. Our average of wind is more than calm so it is important to have an airplane that can perform well with wind. Please do not get me wrong I am not saying that a 2,000 square in. and 30 lbs airplane will fly better than a 25lbs at same area but probably same airplane at 22 lbs my not do as well at the overall spectrum of the 3D aerobatic.
Hope this give you an idea. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Take care. Quique
