Default Loss for Leukemia

Guys,

In June, my great friend Wayne Geffon is planning a Fly-In at his home field in Bloomington, IL, to benefit the cure for Leukemia. We had a blast last year and raised a lot of money. I was brainstorming about a way to raise as much money as I could for this charity since it's such a great cause and I've lost a couple of friends to Leukemia myself.

Now, anyone that knows me, knows that I'm a big guy...a really big guy. Time for a change.......I've hired a personal trainer, and joined a great gym and have started my workouts on Monday, Dec 10th 2007. So, I thought...instead of doing this just for my own benefit, I've decided to benefit some others as well. I'll turn my hard work into something good for others as well as myself.

This is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time and finally just gave into all my worries and just did it. I'm asking that you try to sponsor me a small amount of money for every pound that I lose between Dec 10th, 2007 and June 1st, 2008. It's a little over six months, and I plan on working my tail off for myself AND a great cause.

Please check out http://www.poundsforleukemia.com and if you can sponsor me in my efforts to become healthier and donate to a worthy cause, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks, guys.

Mikey

Mike,

I think we've all had ours lives affected by the loss of a love one who was taken by cancer. I lost my grandmother too it. It is great to see you changing your life for the better, and even greater to you linking it too such a great cause. God Bless You!!!

I've already made my promise to you on the other site...But I'd like to also issue a challenge to all the manufactures and producers here to give a little as well. Our hobby is a great thing. It is a hobby, that we are all lucky enough and blessed enough to be able of taking part in it. Let's share just a little of our fortune, and give it to a great cause.

Here my companies pledge...HiAlpha Aviaiton Hobbies will donate $10 of every set of Gear Legs that I sell between right now, today, and til the end of your campaign. I'll send you a sells report every month so you can keep up with it. I knows its not alot as I'm not a big company in terms of volume sells, but its a little, and if everyone was to help a little, this campaign of yours could turn into something great, something that shows everyone what a great groups of guys/gals we RC'ers really are...

Let's put it this way, a typical day for me starts at 7AM. Since I started working out, I've been getting up at 5AM and heading to the gym and walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes and came home. Walked a mile and a half and went to work. OK, for most of you, a mile is nothing I imagine, but for me, it's quite difficult. After work, I thought "Screw this...there's nothing better to do, I'm going to the gym." When I walked in, my trainer saw me and was stunned. She said "Weren't you just here this morning?" I just nodded and she slapped me a high five and gave me that proud look. I'm really doing this and I don't care what it takes. And, if I can take all you boys and girls to the cleaners in the process, I'm doing it.

Hey Mike!

I lost my grandfather to Lymphoma about 8 years ago. He was a great inspiration to me and many others. There is not a day that goes by when I look at an airplane that I do not think of him.

I would like to donate personally a Vrolet VIII for every 20 pounds you lose. I'll get with Mike at Fancy Foam to arrange this.

Count me in for the fly-in as well! Let me know what I can do.

Good luck Mike!
