| uber has-been. | It's deep in winter here in the States, and this is the time of year we start to dream of the good times coming this spring and summer, and our favorite event of all time - The Joe Nall Giant Scale Fly-in! With somewhere around 80 days until kickoff, it can't come soon enough! If you have never been to this event before, you need to book your reservations, and get your butt down to Triple Tree in South Carolina! This event is regarded worldwide as "heaven on earth", which is an understatement! The Joe Nall is the world's largest aeromodeling fly-in that takes place in South Carolina at the world famous Triple Tree Aerodrome, and is hosted by a crew of some of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life. The facility is 500 acres of lush, green, modeling goodness with multiple flight lines, full camping facilities, and more. While the event is officially billed as a 4 day event, folks from around the world show up, and enjoy the facility up to 3 weeks before kickoff! 10 days prior, there is rarely a moment without a plane in the sky, and smiles all around! There is something VERY new going on at this year's Joe Nall - a our friends are very proud to introduce the addition of a SECOND flight line! This flight line will be geared towards.... ahem, let me see if I'm quoting this right - "full blown 3d hucking".. Cool! As we all probably know, the Nall is a celebration of aeromodeling where all of our flying passions can be enjoyed in one location. The addition of this new runway is an awesome expansion of an already amazing facility that we're all going to love!!Those of you who visit FlyingGiants know that we consider this event sacred, and regard the good folks at Hartness International and Triple Tree as levels of deity! These folks represent the best in modeling, they are an inspiration to all modelers, and personally, as a Giant, I cannot wait to be a part of it again in 2008. We also look forward to seeing all of our friends, this is truly a reunion like no other. And as always, the Giants will be out in force for 10 days, sharin' the love at the greatest place on earth. Lock in the dates folks, and book yer reservations. We'll see y'all soon! For more information about the event, please visit the official Joe Nall website located at www.joenall.com. | Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() ![]() | Steve, I fly into Greenville Spartenburg airport and it has a a regular service to Atlanta and obviously others. As for hotels there are plenty in the area, Best Western etc etc. Do a Google search and you will find heaps, If your flying in then you need a car as TT is 20 odd miles away. A motor home is the bees knees but the closest place to rent from is Columbus or pick one up in Atlanta. The coolest way is buy a tent and a bag and a mattress and rough it. There's food on the site for the four days, toilets, showers and all you need. Just bring a towel, some soap and bucket full of happiness because it truly is heaven for RC junkies. |
