I'm waiting on the new 5.8 gig systems that are coming out next year, I don't want to getting stuck with a $1400 dollar transmitter.

I gotta say I'm with the other people that mentioned that there is no "I'm sticking with 72mhz" option to select.

I'd love to make the change, but right now its just not the best decision for me.

I have everying I own now outfitted and flying with Futaba's FASST system. 14MZ module based system is working perfectly in all environments in all my 40% aircraft.

Change was hard for me and many others I feel. Sort of a wait and see approach. But now I'm sold on 2.4 and have converted 95% of my planes over. I'm using my JR-10X with Module.AR 9000 and AR 6200 for now.

Do you find that the module really sucks down the battery on the Transmitter?

I'm sticking with good ol 72mhz for now. Never had a single glitch with it. I am excited about the new technology of 2.4 and will probally have it by the end of the year. I just want to sit back and let all of you be the lab rats and when I don't see issues that can't be explained or attributed to bad setup/install I will be glad to come over. I think the one good thing that is comming out of this is some awesome radios with great programming at a lower price with each new model!

Not really I have fairly new 1500 ma Nickel metal in the TX. The factory batteries are not the best for JRs top of the line transmitter.

I have two Futaba R6014FS 14-Channel 2.4GHZ FASST Receivers, one Futaba R607FS 7-Channel 2.4GHz FASST Receiver, 14MZ transmitter, and a 12FGA transmitter. I felt confident in futaba technology so I put the TM14 receiver in a brand new Aeroworks 42% Edge, and put the first flight on with the 12FGA RX. I put 4 flights on the plane last Sunday, and had no problems. I forgot I was flying 2.4 GHz. I don’t think 4 flights in one field prove anything, only time will tell. The plane felt just like it was on the 14MZ, time will tell with interference issues. I plan on putting the other 14 channel in my 3.3 M CARF YAK, and the 7 channel in a 35% edge. I set the Aeroworks up with the 14 MZ, but haven’t flown it. I should have tried the 14MZ on the Aeroworks, but I was two lazy to pull the canapé, and rebind the radio. It’s really easy to bind TX to the RX, it just takes a sec. You can bind two receivers to one radio; however, you can’t bind two radios to one receiver - for obvious reasons, or at least I wasn’t able to. The single receiver (no satellite receivers) makes installation simple, just pull your old RX, make provisions for the perpendicular antenna installation, plug in the new RX, bind the TX to the RX, and fly. For 14MZ users, there is a little different channel groupings for optimal performance, I use a power distribution / match system so it wasn’t an issue. I fly at 4 different fields on a regular basis; all the fields are in more or less urban environments, so there is plenty of exposure to Wi – Fi, industrial transmitters, police, and emergency signals. I also plan on going to the Nall fly-in and use the 3D field. I like the module method better than the dedicated radio, due to the fact that I have foamies, glow profiles, and other planes that I might pull out of the attic, I can use the same radio that I’m accustomed to by just putting in the 72 MHz module. What ever system you use, you can’t beat the advantages of the 2.4 Mhz system, it allows you the ability to take your time prepping a new plane, or any plane, and not worry about taking a frequency from another flyer, this is a real advantage if you have to trouble shoot a plane at a crowded field.

I'm sticking with 72MHz for now, I'm happy with my 9C Super.

However, I've began to entertain the thought of switching in the future. Probably more to 2009 as I'd use the opportunity and upgrade the Tx as well.
I'm setting my sights on the JR 12X as the current Futaba 12 channel offerings didn't catch my eye....

Your bias shows in your poll MadMax. There are obviously very many of us who are not even thinking of switching to 2.4Ghz anytime soon, but there is no option to vote that way in your poll.
You are not going to get accurate results (or is that what you want, biased results?)

I am sticking with 72Mhz because it is a better radio link. The fact that you need to use multiple rx's with 2.4Ghz just to keep from loosing the signal tells me everything I need to know about 2.4Ghz.

Jim
