Never been to a field yet that one pilot hasn't shot down another. I haven't seen 2.4 get shot down (personally) by anything...yet.

As the ex-owner of a discontinued airframe shot down by the only other radio at the field AFTER a "meeting of the minds" the only thing stopping me from starting the new season on 2.4 is plane money !

I hope to skip Spektrum 7 and go straight to the 9303 by the end of this season.

Don's Hobbies is in the process of filling my order for a TX module and several Spektrum receivers for my 10X. I'll have a total of 5 receiver setups when Spektrum comes through with the "buy 1 get 1 free" offer for the two extra receivers I am purchasing.

I'm one of the die hards who has been resisting making the jump to 2.4g. There were many issues in the last year, but most of the manufacturers seem to have them worked out. Recent firmware and design improvements have made the new systems a lot more dependable, and the links much stronger. Given the dual path signal chosen by Spektrum, as well as multiple receivers to assure against signal loss (like. .we run dual 72mhz receivers for the same reason, right???), I'm sure that Spektrum will prove to be a reliable addition to my Radio setup.

I'm NOT getting rid of my 72mhz equipment, though. I'm setting up some of my planes to still have the 72mhz receiver(s) on board, just not wired into the controls. At any time I can pull the wires out of the 2.4g receiver and slide them into the 72mhz unit, grab a frequency pin, and head for the flight line. I want to do some back-back flight testing to compare latency, response, and overall characteristics between the two technologies.

A year ago I considered XPS . I'm glad I waited. With the Spektrum "Receiver giveaway" going on right now, I can switch over, getting 5 receiver setups and a TX module, and do it relatively inexpensively. THAT is what sold me on the switch at this juncture. $$$$$$$

Call me a cheap ba$tard if you like. I'll probably be able to sell off the Spektrum stuff for more than I paid for it if I decide to switch back to 72mhz, but somehow I doubt I ever will. There are certain flying environments, like Night Fflying (when someone in the pits, without the pin, may switch on), Fly-ins, and BIG meets where 2.4, in a controlled environment, will prove superior, and allow a lot more flying time, than a similar 72mhz system.

I'll probably put only 2,4on my 10X, and use my backup 10sx for 72mhz. They feel, fly, and program so similarly that not using the 10sx is silly, IMO.

So, tomorrow and Friday will be my last "totally 72mhz" flying days. After that 2.4 will be in place. It ought to prove very intersting.

I am only switching because of the flight line rules at Joe Nall. I am flying a 14MZ with G3 receivers but am waiting for the module for 2.4. I won't be changing all my planes, just the one I am building now, my Composite SuperX, and a small foamy I fly in a gym.

I fly both. Eventually I will change over to 2.4 just for the security factor. My main club is very small with experienced pilots so I don't worry too much there, but ya never know.
I have only been shot down one time at a larger club, and the gentleman was nice enough to fess up. He turned it over to his home owners. I got a new plane, radio, and engine.

Man ! That's great for hime to step up like that . The guy that shot me down did also,(they was just him and me at the field) but at the next club meeting he made a very long speech about what happened and how he WOULD NOT do that again. (take responsibility). I think he was shocked that I took him up on his offer.

Took all the "warm and fuzzy" feelings I had when he started his speech away. The airframe was discontiniued and could not be replaced.

Gents, this discussion is about 2.4 adoption, absolutely. Pleeeeeeeze don't let it degenerate. And for the record, the reason I havent chimed in is because I don't have the flexibility to screw around on the internet on RC websites, while at work. I'm jealous!

Max, deleted post to keep this on topic.

After flying the Airtronics Stylus on all my airframes for the past 9 years, I made the switch to the JR X9303 after attending the AMA Convention in January. JR / Spektrum hosted 2.4 seminars on their products which really helped me understand how the system works and what improvements I would see over my PCM set ups. After talking to Quique and a couple other JR pilots I decided the time was right for me to make the change.

For the past couple of months all my indoor and park flyers have been switched to 2.4 along with my 86" 50cc Quique Yak. This has allowed me to understand the system to the point that my electric F3A pattern ship(s) with Kevlar / carbon fuses are being converted this weekend for advanced range testing. I very happy with the performance the JR / Spektrum products and the cost to make the change over has been less than expected.

I fully agree. The pol is obviously slanted towards 2.4
