I'm sure the smooth English announcer would have done it more like:

While standing there on the Joe Nall main flight line looking at Bill Hempel's cub and Snap's Extra, it made sense to me to have each surface powered and regulated independantly from the rest of the plane.

Kiwi, why don't you go one step further and have a dedicated battery, located right next to the regulater/expander, for each wing, stab and the rudder? Take it even further: each power distribution center for each surface could have its own receiver as well!

These huge planes require some non-traditional thought. I'm excited about your project. Keep the updates coming.

PS: I saw one of these fly at a Huckfest recently and he didn't do any of that stuff. I think it was a 60%.
I saw the 60% at the STL Huckfest this past weekend. Saturday evening they were flying it and flying it inverted, knife edges, pretty tricky manuvers. It was cool watching that big bird fly!!! I believe it was Jared Sisk's plane

Yep Jared let Bigbird fly his 60% cub.

Jason was like "I won't hurt it" and proceeded to fly by inverted at 6'

Just got this back from Ali (Machinchy)

His Hempel was built by Craig Bavery with some small modifications :

Jr 8711's all round
2 per aile
2 per elv
3 rudder

Powerbox Royal with built in Spektrum 12ch rx

2x 3700 Mah Dualsky Lipos for Servos and RX

ZDZ 210 from RC Showcase with supplied and fitted electric start system, which people tell me is a small motorbike starter, using a mercedes starter solenoid to operate.
The starter motor is powered by a 4500 Mah Dual sky 4 cell lipo

RCGF 36x10 prop
