Okay so we hear it all the time "Dude I'd like to go to these big contests, but I don't dig sequences." Well first of all I'm like a bunch of folks. I could watch sequences flown well all week. But who doesn't come running for a front line seat for the free style? Then there's the timeless "Dude, I'm a heli guy. There should be LOTS more badass heli events that bring in the big dogs!" Well why in the world isn't there a contest that has all of these elements? THERE IS!!! The Futaba XFC!!

Held June 16-18 in Troy Ohio at the Waco museum, the XFC combines helis, airplanes, freestyle and as many world class pilots as the field can hold! Why are the Flying Giants fully behind this premiere event? Duh ! Because there is non stop action from the time the first pilot hits the flight line!

The venue is perfect, the attitude of the organizers is the right mix of serious competition but tempered with fun! All of the pilots get the vibe. There's certainly a relaxed tone in the pits until it's show time. Then it's GAME ON BABY!

The event is one that is on my "must attend" list. Wendel, Frank, Bill and all the workers of the event do a great job. Balancing running a contest and keeping that many flights on schedule and all the scores required is a real feat. Then throw in all the vendors, raffles, keeping the grounds clean and communication between everyone all add up to a week of WORK.

I think I have the best job in the world. Run my mouth while airplanes are flying and sit in the front clapping while the heli boys are going at it. Honestly guys,you need to be in Troy for this one! Show up with the strongest hair gel you can find and wear 4 pair of socks every day. Why you might ask? BECAUSE THIS EVENT IS GOING TO PART YOUR HAIR RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE AND KNOCK 3 OF YOUR 4 PAIR OF SOCKS OFF!!! It is that badass.

Here's a personal invitation from MadMax and Biff and all the staff. Get your Flying Giants shwag on, bring our vibe and come see what the buzz is all about! We'll be doing a media blitz and I'll be writing daily up dates. Keep an eye on the site if your rear can't be in a seat! Trust me here guys, if you want to be part of the buzz BE THERE! If not, you'll hear about it and have to suffer until next year.
