Thumbs up Primo Build Thread

I'm doing a build thread over on the ProBro site on my new design the Primo... I thought I share the build with some of you guys that don't get out as much...

Basically this is like a mojo with a thinner wing, longer tail moment, cap style horizontal stab, modified fuse and rounder rudder.....

So... I guess it's nothing like a mojo.... Well the wing span is the same.

I'm scratch building a lot of this one... I'll start the fuse first. There are lots of curved parts, so I'll start by making those out of 1/8" x 3/8" balsa. I wet two pieces then coated one side with wood glue to make the bends. Then I cut some blocks and shaped them to act as formers.

Here's some more fuse shots. The last three pics show my method for making curved parts.. Just use thin stock, wet it, coat it with a little wood glue and use some blocs to make a former to give it shape

More pics of the forming process.. I'm sure lots of folks have used this method before... Getting started on the wing. The fuse will have a 1/2" fiberglass tube so the root rib is built with a pocket to hold the tube.

Building the spar with the taper before pinning it to the building board. The wing it quad tapered, so I'll use some blocks to set the spar up and a long block at the trailing edge to keep the taper correct. I'll put tabs on these in the future.

Wing is all sheeted and ready to go except for cutting the hatches. The last two pics show the difference between the Mojo airfoil and the Primo airfoil

Building the stab. The Primo is going to have a cap style tail, so hopefully the horizontal stab will be very effective. I'm putting a 3/16" carbon tube in the trailing edge of teh stationary portion of the horizontal.... I want that stab stiff!

I'm hoping to have it ready for the Memphis ProBro... And if I like the way it flys, I'll work on getting kits out... Will probably take 4 or 5 weeks after memphis to dial in the kit..
