Default Katana v2 70 with an os 61?!?

For Anyone out there with any experience with the katana v2 profile, I was looking into getting the 70 size katana, (why get a 40 when I can get one bigger) I have 2 os 61 2 strokes I can use, would a 61 really fly it good enough to hover or do the extreme aerobatics? I know it reccemonds a 61 but is it really enough for the plane? Let me know what you know So I can decide to get it or not. Thanks.

They fly okay with a .90/.91 2-stroke but I think a .61 would be marginal for hardcore 3D flying. The Kat 70s really seem to need a 15-inch prop to get any aileron authority in a hover (the ailerons don't come all the way to the fuselage) and I can't see a .61 turning any lumber that big.

Yeah, I see what your saying, I just don't want it to be too slow that it looks like a slow flyer, just barely making it into the air with the tail dragging ass.

91 2 stroke minimum, Better with a bigger 4 stroke.

The problem with .60/.61 2-strokes is that they're really inferior from a power-to-weight perspective.

Most of them only have a little more power than a good .46-55 (in a 40-wised crankcase) but weigh quiet a bit more.

What's more, these days most .60-sized engines are also available in .90/.91 displacement which brings the power-to-weight ratio back to .46-.55 levels.

Maybe for a warbird?

I have a 70 size Katana with an OS 91 Surpass. I use a 15 x4 W on it. It would be a dog with a 61 on it. If you already have the 61 buy the 40 size plane. That would be a better choice for your motor.
