Okay, I got one: I did my maiden flight and was satisfied with the overall performance of the QQ 102" Yak, but it displayed a few issues. Without me telling you where my CG is, can you tell me if I am tailheavy or noseheavy based on: tucks to the belly in KE pulls to the canopy on the downlines, pretty hard (I haven't tried mixing it out yet, but it looks like it will take more than 2% drops quite noticeably inverted - not rediculous, but more than I would say a precision plane should porpouses a bit on landing approach and the low rate elevator almost doesn't seem effective enough on landing, yet it almost seems to tip stall (the left wing dropped hard on both landings)... I did do a lateral balance, but forgot to account for a 6 oz header tank I have up in the engine box on the left side, so that may have to do with the wing drop. So, is this a CG issue or something else? None of these characteristics clearly point either way...

Reza, I got your PM and thank you for your concern, but I don't think I need to bother Quique just yet. No, I did not check wing incidence. I don't think one should have to worry about that with a jig-built $1000 ARF. Plus I don't have an incidence meter anymore. I did do a crude measurement with a ruler and the stab seems to be fine. As for the wings, the alignment pins fit very snug into the wings during the build and the panels both fit very evenly, so I doubt they're off. I did take a couple clicks of down trim, but I will tell you right now that I was quite tailheavy - about 10mm behind Quique's most aft recommended CG (10mm behind the 3D CG). I knew this going into the maiden flight, but the fact that it dropped inverted and pulled to the canopy quite a bit on the downline is what kinda baffles me (those are signs of being noseheavy, right?). I only have two flights on this thing and it was blowing about 5 mph, so I won't jump to conclusions. For all I know, there could be too much deadband in the 5955's, and I do have the elevator arms set up for max 3D throws and then 30% dual rates for IMAC throws - which is why I may end up getting that second set of stabs we talked about on another forum... Anyway, the overall flight characteristics were very good, but I have since moved all 3 2400 Fromecos forward about 5 inches (they are practically up against the front of the cowl right now), moved the entire engine forward 3/16", and added the wheelpants. I am now about in the middle of the CG range and will also figure the lateral balance before the next flight. Thanks Reza! I'll keep you updated on the setup progress as I go...

| It's official, thanks Verne... ![]() | Hey Quique, Welcome to the Giants!! It's great to have you here. I'm sure that this forum will be beneficial to both you and your customers. I'm hoping to own one of your aircraft this year, I have an Extra I will be selling to make some room for the 102" Yak. Again, welcome and I look forward to doing business with you later in the season.

Flew it again some more this weekend with the CG moved near the middle of the range. Landings were way better and it seemed to track better. I will keep it where it is for precision and remove the spinner if I ever want to move the CG back. I have noticed, however, that one or both of the wings are warped!!! It takes almost 3/16" of trim in the ailerons to get it to track straight Between the weight issues, quality issues and now this, this will definitely be my last QQ plane, sorry...everyone else enjoy!

Hey Sleepy, What color is your stopper? I don't have the 73" but I think if it's the black, it's for glow and if it's Red or Orangish type it's for both. I will double check this with Quique. Thanks, Reza

| BodyWerks, Sorry to hear about your experience. I can understand it if you were not happy about quality of your plane as we did have very few planes that did slip through our QC in the factory. But you never decided to take action and actually return it for a new one. You decided to continue building the plane. After seeing your problem with your stab I personally offered you a new stab but you never called us for it. You actually never called us asking for anything except for complaining on several forums on couple of websites. Fortunately we have taken care of each and every customer that has called us and asked for help on any issue but you chose a different way, you decided to take the issues your way by not calling us and actually tell us straight what you need or what we can do to make you happy. There is not much we can do when we don't get a specific request from our customer of what the problem is. Quique and Wayne would've been more than happy to send you another plane had you chosen to return it but not only you didn't make that decision but also you never tried to call us and share with us your experience and difficulties and asking us for anything! Sorry that it didn't work out for you! We have lots of happy customers and we will continue to provide our customers with best flying planes and best quality. I'm sure those who bought our new 73" Yak can testify to that. Again we have taken care of any of our customers that called upon help when they faced any problem. We even opened up support forums on websites like Flying Giants to help our customers with their questions. We have a new website (www.qqaircraft.com) to help our customers buy our products online and browse through our products easier. We are in process of having new detailed oriented assembly manuals on each and every of our line of airplanes. So far the Yak 73" and 85" have been updated and we have received lots of complements on them. Next will be the 102". We have even reduced our prices to help our customers buying our airplanes. We are doing our best to keep our customers happy. Again we are sorry that it didn't work out for you! Thank you, Reza Quique's Aircraft Support |

Hey Sleepy, Just to confirm that balck stopper that comes with the 73" is for GLOW ONLY. Please do change to gas stopper if you are using the tank for gas. Thank you for your question, Reza |
