Help! Re: New QQ-Yak 86" / DA 50 installation

Has anyone put the stock DA 50 muffler on this a/c? Will it fit inside the cowling with out cutting the cowling except for the exhaust pipe?

jhagel,

I finished my QQ 86" a couple weeks back. The stock 50cc can required a small
amount of cowl trimming in the front of the exaust can. ( smaller than a quarter)
It's hardly noticable. It ends up being very light.

Thanks for the response. Do you have pictures? Did you have a problem getting the CG in the recommended CG range? What is the distance from the back of the prop to the front of the cowling?

J,

Unfortunately I'm in NY on buisness and don't have any pictures.
Going from memory the back of the prop is 1" +/- from the front of the cowl.

My CG is in the reccomended range (188mm). I'll list my setup:

Rudder servo 5955TG - In stock location
Fromeco Regulator (Flight pack) - Down in front of the Rudder servo platform
Fromeco Relion 5200mAh RX Battery - Under the fuel tank in the canister tunnel
Flight power 800mAh Ignition battery - In front of RX Battery in the canister tunnel
Ignition Module - on the side of the Motor box against the bulkhead
Throttle Servo - on the motor box (centered front to back)
Ignition Regulator (Castle) - on the motor box
Ignition switch - on a bracket in front of the bulkhead
Spinner - Airwild 4"
Prop - 22x8 Xoar

The idea behind this setup was to save weight anyplace possible. I have a carbon spinner & 23x8 prop to install after break-in. This will move the CG back toward the rear limit of the reccomended range.

I sold the DA 50 I had in my Yak 86" and installed a 3W 55.
This added 300g of additional weight and I gained 30-40% more responce on my aleron because the prop is a bit further from the cowling...I think.... about 2" from the prop to the black in the middel of the cowling.
And it's a bit more fun flying with the additional power and the additional weight dont make a diffrens

Hi Reza,

Quick question. My 86 is about to be delivered in 10 days from your dealer in Austria, Lindinger (new batch I suppose, any changes?). I would like to know where I can find the 1 1/4 stand offs for my DA 50. And also, is the standard DA muffler gonna make it quite tail heavy?

Thanks again

Hello Panos,

No changes! I suppose you will get yours with aluminum gear. Please do use the aluminum gear rather than the glass epoxy one. Also you should be fine on balancing if you are using the recommended spinner otherwise you may need to move the batteries forward! On the stand off, send an email to Desert Aircraft. I think they have them. I actually I am sure as I bought mine from them

Hi Kimmo,

Hasn't arrived yet. They said mid February last time I called them.
I've got everything ready to go in, just the plane is missing

Just came in!
Perfect packaging, all is well!
Got the aluminium LG.
Quality seems stunning, covering is excellent.

Go do myself some building.
On first inspection seems like the hinge lines are already tappered for the hinge pin. That will save me some work. Perfect!!
Thanks Reza and Quique!!

Reza, Do you know if the aluminum landing gear can be painted to match? Will there be a new batch of the glass LG any time soon? I much prefer to use the glass for weight purposes?
