I have a .91fx in my funtana 40 and it is great. Turns an apc 15x4w prop at just over 10,000rpm. Don't need an electric starter with it, just prime the motor and back flip it against compression, starts first flip. Tons of power, will rip the wings off the plane if you are not careful, haha. Make sure you seal your hinge gaps!

I have one with a .61 size engine and a 14x4w prop and it has plenty of power but if you get afford a 4 stroke they are definately better. Also, the .61 is a little on the heavy side and the cg on this plane really has to be set to the back in order to do 3d really good.
Here are some pics of my funtana with the new scheme I just finished doing.

By the way, I think yours looks really nice too.

thanks but thats not my funtana its a pic i found on down on the deck but I'm gonna do the same thing.
well after talking to a buddy which has been flying for 33 years he thinks i should build
a electric and go that root due to their no place to SUCCESSFULLY fly gas planes hear but this guy also has no clue iv flown foamy for 4 years and am sick of them I'm not willing to go brush less due to really tight for money right now so id best get f40 done even if their is no successfully place to fly. but what they don't know is i may be buying a farm or good chunk of land in the next few years so thanks you all.

If you are very good the funtana doesn't need a huge area to fly. I just find an open field near-by and fly off of it. I won't dare fly over anyones house or anything though, but I have never had complaints but I know there are a lot of people elsewhere that have. I hope you get that farm! That would be awesome. Post some pics of your f40 when you get it done.

You can save a lot of weight and money by useing HS 225 MG servos al around i used them for more than a hundred flights and they never had a prob.Save a ounce per servo that way.

The plane crashed on a dumb thumb so no pics.

I used a ys .63 but a saito .82 would be a better choice with a 14/6 prop true balistic plane and light maybe 5.5 pounds or lighter with a 700 mah nicad

I have/had a funtana 40 with a supertiger .51 on it with a 12.25x3.75 APC prop and 30% nitro heli fuel. at 5000ft ASL altitude I had unlimited vertical, and was a total powerhouse, and the engine was still getting broken it!

I have an old Saito FA 80 in mine and never have to use a starter. If you going to use the saito, use the OS type F plug, and at least 10%nitro. If you go with the 2strokes, you will either have to get a "Pitts type" in cowl muffler or have to hack a bit of the fus away ahead of the landing gear and the bottom of the tank compartment.

Saito 82 is perfect for the funtana. Keep it light and you will like the way it flies.

Help! Re: funtana 40 set ups

What all up weight are we talking here guys cos mine has come in at 6.2lbs (UK), with no special extras, 4x servos are Futaba 3050s at 49g each, somewhat over the 5.5 on the box! Saito 82a with a 14x7 Master Airscrew.
