Help! saito 72 WONT RUN

hey guys i have run into a problem i have never seen, or couldnt fix unitl now. ok i got this saito 72 off this guy looks new. it wont run for over 1 minute. it starts great and good compression, no blow by at all. its as if its too rich on the low end. if you take the glow driver off it stops. heres what i did. put new osf plug, new tank , new lines and tryed again same thing, so i started to lean out the low end to try and get it to idle without the driver. after the low end was off it would still start but not idle so i closed the high needle as well just see if it would run, and it did. so i pulled off the carb disassembled to see what was going on. all looked good so a good cleaning and put back togatherand tryed again. oh yea all this time iam using coolpower 30% heli. same problem this motor just wont run. i checked the valves and are dead nuts on. the motor is mounted on a profile so you know where the carb is in relationship to the tank. to me the tank out is lower than the carb, but should not matter. what gives has anyone seen this before i know i shure havent. ive never had a problem getting a motor to run until now. HELP IF YOU CAN

Actually I think it does matter that the tank is lower. I think it should be on the same lever or higher than the carb.

Saito's are really good at drawing fuel from the tank so the posistion is important but not critical. The low speed needle should be just below the throttle arm and you should make sure the motor is not getting to hot from running lean. After you set the idle set the high speed needle using a tach(its hard to tell max RPM on a 4 stroke) and then fine tune the low end again. This guy has an awsome site for saito engines http://saito-engines.info/throttle_setup.html
You should be able to find some help there.

Sounds like the motor IS new... The factory low end needle setting on Saitos is VERY rich and one symptom is that it won't run at this setting without the glo igniter...

The manual says to run the engine this rich for the first 20 minutes below 4000 rpm... Then you can start to lean the low end... YOU DON"T NEED A NEW CARB...

It takes Saitos at least a gallon to even start to break in... They really come into their own after two gallons have been run through them...

Patience grasshopper, patience...

something is obviously extinguishing the fire... The igniter is keeping the plug hot, I agree with Torqued low end is way to rich. Lean it out on the low, and richen it on the high.

Its not the motor just the mixture, If it runs with the igniter, it wants to run. Gonna take some fiddlin', and who knows what the last owner did.

tryed that no change. if both needles are closed and motor is still runs , to me something is wrong in the carb. (nothing open means no fuel) saito says lowend should be out apx 4 1/2 turns, and at this setting its blowing more fuel out than its burning. on this motor. i ordered a new spray bar and neddle. the old gent my have cranked down on the high needle and damaged the seat. at least that what iam betting on. he told me this motor was never flown only bench run, and it looks it. i fueld the tank and closed the carb , blew on the exhaust feed to the tank and the fuel was pouring out. and this was with both needles closed. man 30% is nasty tasting, but my heart felt better ha ha. after i get the needles from horizon i will install and try again . will let you guys know what happens. thanks for the help. has anyone ever damaged a lowend seat??

Make sure your using fresh fuel. It could be older fuel that has been exposed to open air for too long...so the fuel could have gone bad.
