I think some tasteful advertising will be a good thing for the site especially if it can be made to blend in with the current layout.

Apart from helping to pay for some of that band width we are using up for free at this end it will be great to be able to tab a link and see whats new with some of the better distributors and dealers around the place.

I am always buying stuff, small and large and if I was to think a crumb of that spending was going back into keeping the site going and growing then I for one will support those that support us.

Ok to put it simply.....

THIS PLACE IS FREAKING IT!!

Its the RC field of dreams, as in "Build it Max and they will come."

Personally I don't care if I had to sit through 2 minutes of commercials to get to the site, and there were banners everywhere. Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, David Letterman, Hollywood movies, and the all knowing BOOB tube are all funded and generate money from advertising. Its a way of life. And considering that Max and Biff said only RC related products and services get advertised, thats just really cool on their part, and it will make ads actually valuable, not just an annoyance .

The wealth of knowledge already stored here is worth any amount of ads in my opinion, and the choice of taking on ads, and keeping the site free... BRAVO. (Some of the younger members will really appreciate that! Scraping every penny together for thier dream plane)

I've been a part of a few different hobbies over the years, and to be honest this one is the most "people" oriented I've ever been involved with. And this site exemplifies that 100% .

The fact that you can log on and bust chops with some of the worlds greats in RC and Full Scale flying, and also some brand new to the hobby, and get the same great excited responses is a freaking very rare thing, and makes each visit a treat!

So MAX and Biff, you started this up and took it to the next level, and if this is just the beginning, well DAMN... can't wait to see where this goes.. cause I'll be there the whole way!

Well, it's kinda of repetitive for me to even post in this thread since I'm sure pretty much everyone and their brother knows my feelings about the site.

I've been behind the new site since the idea was brought up from the very beginning. I could see the picture that was being painted for me and now to see that vision coming true is very rewarding, and I'm only a moderator.

I'm as excited as the next guy to see what is in store for us, and being that we now all have an idea of what the future holds for the Flyinggiants, it's only onward and upward from here.

Like these FG brothers said before me, anything to keep this "Vibe" rolling! Outside of our friendship this site is on course to be the information center for all looking to get into the Giant arena!

I look forwrd to the ads. When I buy Fly RC mags I love looking at the ads and getting a feel for prices and whats new. I'm sure the ads on this site will be worth checking out. A brothers gotta eat man.

Its pretty exciting to see some new ideas come to light, and acted upon. This thing is gaining MO' and its starting to get exciting to see the up and coming. Keep your manson lamps peeled for lots of new stuff.

I'm also super excited about the things to come. It was driving me nuts having to look all over the mags and the net to get good info on our corner of the hobby. Now It's all gona be in one place. With good folks to banter with too. This place is like the George Forman of web sites. It dont cost nothin and it's got a million different uses.... and it's good for you too. lol

The only problem I have with this site, is I have a hard time turning it off. I have been on most of the RC related sites out there, this is by far the best. The people and the info can't be beat.

I don't think you could have two more passionate guys running this place than Max and Biffy, if ads are what it takes to make this place run than I'm all for it, shoot I like to see what's new as much as the next guy.

Just a little note on the addictive nature of this site, for the past 3 days my goal when turning my computer was to get out my invoices for work completed. Every time I turn the machine on, I just intend on checking out the Giants for a second. Three hours later, I'm turning off the computer and going to bed...invoices still aren't done...gotta' go get some work done...turn the computer off now...get some work done...gotta' get paid

The state of the Flying Giants ?
My take is that it has became a real community. Let's face, you members have given the site a soul. Seeing such a gathering of passionate, creative people getting along so well is a real blessing. Having a place to spend some time with like minded modelers without having to worry about drama is the vision Max and I had. I'm shocked every time I log on to see the level of talent sharing information.

I've known Max for a couple of years and am constantly amazed by his ability to see the big picture. Giving this guy free reign to do his magic has certainly amazed me. The guy is a dynamo! I'm not a computer guru, but Max has taken some real high tech stuff and made it easy for a schlep like me to navigate the site. I still don't use all the tools, but the feedback I get from you guys leads me to believe Max's vision for a very high end site can married to an easy to use package has come to fruition. Bravo Max,,you done good!

The great thing is we haven't even began to launch some REALLY cool and unique things. They will blow you away! I couldn't be more pleased or proud of what we've all done in such a short amount of time.

I need to give our mod staff some ups. Some of the guys have been working with us for years. Bringing in some new faces was initially frightening to me. The learning curve is steep. You either get it or you don't. I'm so very proud of all the mods for doing such a great job. We hate editing posts and try our best not to. But it's our commitment to all Flying Giants to provide a PG-13 site without bashing people or products. When intervention is needed we always PM the party and explain why we felt compelled to act. Almost 100% of the time no one is offended and we go forward. We will always be pro modeling and con drama. Hope everyone shares this vision! For me it's the most important aspect of our community.



As we continue to grow expect big things to be launched! Max and I hate status quo, we'll be moving forward and tweaking the site to make it even better. What will never change is our commitment to make Flying Giants the best site we possibly can. We will also continue our commitment to keep the fun-o-meter pegged and the drama-meter on 0 !!


Thanks to all of our Flying Giant faithful for creating such an awesome community. Fact is we're a toy model site. What you folks have created is a hobby community that is more about people than aircraft. For that, my 10 gallon hat is tipped in your direction. Thanks to each of you for making the Flying Giants such a cool place to spend non-flying hours. Y'all ROCK!!!!
