first time I noticed that button, I thought it was a rating. I said to myself "that ain't no lame post!" -- then I realized what it was for.

As you may or may not have seen, on the bottom of each thread posted in our forums, there is a "<-- Lame Post" button. This button is there for a reason, and when it's pushed, it alerts our staff of a potential lame thread that needs attention. When we get these alerts, we review the report immediately.

For gawd's sake, please use this if a situation warrants it. This is not like pulling the fire alarm in high school, it's more of a "hey, this post is retarded and it's pissing me, and probably more people off, please have a look".

As you know, FG is growing like a weed, and we're stoked you're all enjoying the place! It is our goal and promise to stand by our founding principals of keeping our community drama and BS free, educational, friendly, and fun. With the large number of posts we receive on a daily basis, it's tough to keep up on every little nook and crannie, and we rely on you guys as our second set of eyes. We appreciate your help!

Thanks a bunch folks!! Appreciate the continued support of FG!

All the best--

~FlyingGiants Staff
Hello Max One question. When a lame post is posted, how do you or your staff respond to the poster of the lame post. Frankly have sent serval questions to staff, and a couple lame posts, and have had no replies to them. the last lame post was sent several weeks ago about PatRoy quoting my info, on a thread, on small 2 stroke rpm figures were a crock of s__t. Now if this ok for your bad ass super guys so be it. I will not post on any f,g. threads again. I will pm members if I feel I can help them.
Sincerely
Jack Strickland

The way the lame post button works is that when you hit it, the post is then reported into a thread that only moderators and admins can see (not specifically routed to one mod or admin). As site staff go through the tons of pms, emails, and requests that we recieve, we also review this reports. We take a look at the thread at hand, and handle each one accordingly as time permits. One part that delays this process is that we all have full time jobs aside from our FG responsibilities, so sometimes responses to such reports are delayed. If a situation seems to require immediate attention, go to forum home, identify a staff member that is current online (name will be bolded black) and send them a PM directly. This will ensure a better chance that it is reviewed immediately rather than being queued up for a period of time in our lame post to-do list. The system is not perfect, so when it doubt, PM is directly. Every lame post report is read, and looked into. We do not always respond to the person that made the request, often times we contact the originator of the lame post, or perform a mod function accordingly. Hope that helps. I know I have helped you several times Jack with other things, dont hesitate to contact me directly anytime.

The staff knows who reported the post, so we can follow up with what ever resolution we came to. It is not shared with the writer of the post that was reported.

Whoa buddy!!! Look, We have close to 30,000 members now, and have had one of the highest traffic winter's to date. If you haven't noticed, this place has been very active. Trying to keep everyone happy has never been possible, even since day one. We try our best to keep this place moderated inline with our founding principals and general vibe. The process John described is exactaly how it works. We get the reports in our back room. When there is more than one ping, we typically jump in and kill off the problem immediately. With the rest, we will make an appropriate judgement call to the best of our ability, and do the staff thing as we see appropriate.

John, myself, and our entire staff are modelers, and we're normally dudes like everyone else here. Trying to keep everyone else friends is a daunting task, and I ask you take this into consideration. I will be the first to apologise if you were frustrated by any post here.

Hello Max The postings on the bashing of Bobby Wilson, Whether true or not is, in my opion too long and too harsh. For you (staff) to allow this two page venting to proceed with as many negative comments, is completely unacceptable to me. I will no longer post to the ego maniacs you have allowed to keep damaging a good thing you started. I will, however remain a member, if allowed, and pm to any beginner modeler with any help I may be able to use from 68 years in the hobby. As you may have noticed, I did not set myself up as a "Bad ass super contributor". Most of the folks that do this are the main problem, as I see it. Of course all of this is my humble opinion.
Regards
Jack

Sounds more like Mr Strickland wants to use the Lame Post button for content censorship of things he doesn't agree with rather then its intended purpose. Maybe he should apply for a editorial position.

So Mr. Lewis, by your post you think trying to flame another modeler is ok? Well I feel we are all modelers, as well as COUSINS, and bashing, is not the way to comunicate our feelings to our other cousins/modelers. Sometimes I feel, within these posts, folks are trying to bolster their ego/standing/self/esteem, et al. I read the posts to learn, and have learned a lot, over the several months, and have tried, in vain, sometimes, to help modelers with serious problems, like the prop bolt breaking some time back, and other things along the way. Dont you agree this is the spirit of the site, rather than trying to defalme others? I do not use the lame post button to censor anything I dont agree with, never have, only use it if someone has personally attacked me. I feel I have the right to NOT be attacked for an opinion, or a fact that ive learned. And here you go again trying to inflate your ego, I would appreciate NOT hearing from the likes of you in the future.
