Using the chatroom with windows Vista - solved!

Since I installed vista on my machine a few months ago, I haven't been able to get into the chat room. I just figured it out.. I was trying to solve a problem with accessing some sites (solved) and it struck me that the fix would probably apply to the chat problem too, and it did.

The problem is to do with microsoft changing how tcp recieve window sizing (auto sizes)... this goes against the tcp/ip rfc's, typical

To sort the problem out, open the start menu, accessories, right click on command prompt and select "run as administrator". Then type this line and hit enter :

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

You should see an Ok if it worked.

Vincent, you qare 1000% correct. Thanks for posting this! This will affect all vista installs until M$ fixes the issue.

so max is it worth the money to go to full vista or just stay on xp for a while longer?and welcome home bro

I would stay on XP for now Hig until the hardware catches up and SP1 is released.
