yes i was talking about the 'new post' a set up that works by only showing the thread being started, not recently posted to would help keep the 'mass viewed threads' on top but not taken over everything, i can imagine the work you and the staff have to do, with growing numbers everyday.. yall got your work cut out for ya for sure, and keep it up, no other site out there has this kinda service

What browser are you using? Are you on a mac? Do me a favor... Go dump your cookies and cache. Bump the thread and see if it shows up. I think you might have a cached version. Remember, it takes about 20-60 seconds to update on the homepage. It's not supposed to cache posts.

Thanks man, let me know what happens.

Yes I use Safari- / MAC
I dumped the cookies and cache and just posted a test bump on "So R you happy Great Planes bought out these two?"
I'll try Fire Fox browser later- time for the treadmill- how nuts is that at 5:20am???

Jag, just to be clear...

Are you looking at the new post section on the right column of the homepage, or the "new posts" link under forum navigation-->new posts?

That would be using the "new posts" link under forum navigation hot button - top left next to "Home."

Has either of the threads in Post #8 ever show up in new posts on your computer?

Max, seems to me that the solution is simple. Nuke the new posts list. People will still have the post hucker, and their subscribed threads - but if they want anything more they will have to browse the forum (not a big deal really).

What about having a smaller version of the post hucker at the bottom of the "my flying giants" page, this way when people view their subscribed threads they can also get an "at-a-glance" look at current activity.

Aaaaah, okay. That's by design. Your thread does not show up in that list because the system assumes that you have read the post, because you wrote it. Only new posts that are unread appear in that list. Not a bug, that's just how it works.

Just to recap, here's the links for all the new posts:

1. homepage right column
2. forum navigation --> post hucker
3. forum navigation --> new posts

Good discussion...

The logic in that almost makes me feel a bit stupid - but a next time I get the email -for the fun of it, I'll go there first just to verify. I'll let you know if the result remains 'interesting'!
Thanks for your help with this too Max!

IMHO getting rid of rescent posts will be a bad thing. Personally I check up on this site several times aday. Ten minutes before work in the morning, and an hour or so after dinner. I don't have time to delve into the forums homepage. I want to meet up with the latest happening conversations. Not talking to one or two people deep within some obscur thread related to something someone posted months ago. If it is not happening right now then it really doesn't feel like we are connecting as a group.

Hope something works out. I'd like to see a longer "rescent" page for sure. I do however understand and dislike how some threads can get washed away in a hurry if the "rescent" crowd finds the boat races more intruiging. LOL

Let me add another thing here. The forum archives are massive. We would all get lost in there. I know I would never have looked through everything to find this thread. Personally I like when a thread of mine gets resurrected from years past. I will always jump aboard for the current discussion.Interesting to see it's growth. I do know that alot of contributors do so on the most rescent posts page to get involved with what ever is being talked about at the moment. Nothing in particular , but interesting none the less.

Max, this might be a tough one for sure.
