ok, how about this? (fasten your seatbelts for this one). Instead of a most recent post list, how about using that area to list the top 25 or 30 hottest topics? You know, the ones that are getting most current activity?

I like the larger font and info layout format used in the New Posts page.
The Home page listing is so tiny I simply don't care for it.

Cspaced, how is that differnt from the new post listing? Aren't they listing the recent activity? I agree with your previous post, sounds like a good idea.

It lists any posts that have had a reply, this would list only the posts that had the most viewing/posting activity in a given period of time. For instance a thread that gets a thousand views a day would be up there as opposed to a thread that only three people looked at.

Guys, keep up the suggestions. Max has talked with me and the rest of the staff many times over the past year trying to arrive at a solution to this issue. Believe me we like and want the feed back.

Max has tried to track how people get into the forum discussions. This is no easy task. Many members use the front page to find recent posts and it is impossible for the list of recent posts to have much on the home page. With my work schedule I may have periods of a day to a day and a half that I can't get on the site. When that happens, the new post section for me can be over 4 pages long.

Believe me when I say that this is a serious consideration. We are trying to figure out how to keep threads from getting lost in the archives. So keep the suggestions coming. We like the suggestions.

I would surely miss the latest forum post on the home page. Several times I’ve clicked on a topic that took me to areas that I would never visit in the first place, such as the Teen Scene or the Giants From Down Under forums.

Without the “New Post” section I would have missed some discussions that I found worthwhile and enlightening.

I agree with pitviper, instead of having it as a New Post section is it possible to make it a New Thread section, independent of the posting going on?
