I talked with Will Berninger a couple of times today. He is there calling for Kurt Koelling and Jason Noll.

Seba zeroed his freestyle yesterday for crossing the deadline - since one freestyle can be dropped, he moved up substantially today after getting in a good free.

Jason Noll flew a VERY solid unknown and known today which moved him up a bunch.

Kurt's freestyle got too close to the trees. As in through the trees. 2 years ago, Kurt did a pass BEHIND the trees and scared the crap out of himself and his caller (me). This time, the trees won. Real bummer as the plane was pretty much completely destroyed. I was very sad to hear that Kurt didn't make the first cut today.

Flying is starting EARLY and looking directly into the sun in the morning.

Will says everyone there is flying extremely well and that the contest has been run very smoothly. A great time as usual at Tripple Tree.

Kurt was obviously nott too keen on seeing his 260 go to nothing, but 20 minutes after it happened I was talking to him and this is what he said; " Dude, if you are going to lose one,why not go out in a BLAZE of glory!?" Kurt was a star.

The flying has been awesome. The guys still haven't pulled out all the tricks for the free. QuiQue was walking by and I told him he had a thriller free. He just looked with a grin and said "Just wait,,,, MUCH more to come" He rolled invert. and flat turned HARD for the trees WAO. Pushed up just before there would have been problems.

Thoughts on airplanes;

Bill H. new Wild Hare 40% Extra 300. 3W 157 looks really smooth and is a 3D monster. Liked it.

Animal's Comp ARF 260 w/ center hinged ailerons looked sweet. REALLY fast roll rate and no differential. Mighty good looking plane in both sequences and free.

Sean's Aeroworks 40% 260 was flying REALLY well. Sean really likes it. I think the production version will have a 2 inch longer tail moment.

QQ's Yaks. The best rolling planes on the planet. They present really well.

JTec Radiowave Extras. Jerry Neal, Marco and Don were flying them. I was very impressed at the lines they were drawing and how nimble. They were going hard.

Cardens. Ivan chose to fly his 330 instead of his 260 because the 330 was already set up for smoke. The 260 he's flying is right at 36 pounds and Ivan really didn't want to add anything to it. Kurt Koelling hit the trees at 500 mph in knife edge.... OH MY GOD!! Sorry bro!

Bernd B, Flying a Raven E. Plettenberg outrunner in the spinner. 320 AMPS!!!! This thing is a friggin bullet!!! Working perfectly. His flying is badass!

Chip's Hacker powered DR 330. 34X17 prop! Goes like stink!! Chip is gaining every round. Flying very well and SMART. 260 AMP Inner Demon speed controller.

The Krill planes are looking bomber! Seba has a 3W 212 w/ 2 into 1 headers and just two pipes. Looks great. Nice sound too!

Glad to see EVERYONE passed the 94 DB limit. It is SO nice not hearing "mufflers". Exhaust systems were Greeves, Piffa, MTW, KS and 3W. Props were mostly 28.5 X 12 or 29 X 12. Making STUPID power (sea level Bodyworks!!!) The guys are tested before the contest and spot checks can be done at any time. Non have been made as we moitor ambient/in flight sound.

We start tomorrow at 9 AM. GLAD TO SEE SO MANY GIANTS IN THE HOUSE!!!!!

Tank is going to post a hundred shots or so tonight. Will have a report tomorrow!
LATE!! Biff
