Dude... if you think that was good, you're in for some suprizes. I did that with one eye closed, hungover and sleepy.

I'm more interested in your response to what I did for WB's outer gear legs. Gimmee a rendering. Don't share it with Kent though. I'd rather see his eyes tear up when we put it in his hand.

Slow Huckin' in the dark...

Flew five batteries out on the SA Stick (aka: Slow Huck) today without any adult supervision. Hooked up the battery, took a deep swallow and pushed the throttle forward. The wind rolling over the tree line at the local park was a biotch! Forecast was for only 5mph, but the rollers slamming my lil' pigeon were making her do crazy things.

I dorked her good twice (less damage than even Big Jerry could inflict) before I made the realization that I needed MUCH more elevator authority. brought her in, found a new hole for the control rod on the elly and... BINGO! Much better. But still no love. I cant seem to use the throttle for anything but to get it away from panic. Flew again, just cruisin' and fighting the rollers... oh well, good thumb training. Battery three: more of the same, still no love, but it was emanating a really weird harmonic on close flybys.

When I landed and picked her up, I noticed that two of the motor mount screws were missing and the RimFire was barely hanging on by the last one. Dang. Grounded. Won't find any more of that metric crap locally. Placed her in the back of the Elky and removed the remaining screw. The other two fell out of their pockets! They had been denied escape by the velcro strap and motor leads! All present and accounted for. Whew. I must be living right.

I went home in search of Loctite. Had none, but used some Testors enamel on all fasteners instead. Made a Mental note to add MM screw check to my pre-flight. While in the vicinity of tools, I got nasty (I need love). I hacked the forward wing mount in half and modified it to remove all but about two degrees of incidence from the wings AOA. Had to move quick due to fading light and honey do's, but I got her buttoned up and headed back to the park to try out the mod.

Schwing! I'm in love! On rails. Felt like I was actually driving her instead of whispering suggestions into her ear. Touch 'n goes, loops, rolls, no problem. Spent the last battery low, slow, hukin' in the dark. doin' figure 8's at head height, listening to the RimFire purr in front of my nose at the crossover.

In the end, I looked proudly at my thumbs and said, "We're back."

Hey Les, congrats! Good to hear you got her trimmed out.

Jon, Mine is all hinged up and the motor is mounted. The radio gear should be easy to install. The hard part now is to cut the cowl out to fit the BME.

Just make sure the cans don't cook the poxy. And don't hand Patrick the transmitter after you hear the crack.

You're gonna need a lil' bit of weight in the rear after you hang that DA150 up front. But it's sure to be better than 1:1.

See you tomarrow.
