Okay guys the wife let me spend some money I did`t get one but two nice planes. She is holding her favorite lol. The Extra used to belong to Robert Vess and woundering if he could tell me if he used any stand offs for the DA 100 cc he had on it before he sold it to Bandon. Becouse the holes do not match the Da 100 i have now an help would be great.

Eddie,

So you have my old Extra now. I put that thing through hundreds of flights! I did have standoffs for the DA100. As I recall, I made them from hard wood and they were probably 1 1/2" long (just guessing). You can tell what you will need when you hold the engine against the firewall with the cowl on and leave clearance between the cowl nose ring and the spinner backplate.

Oh yeah, and the last engine I had on that thing was a Zenoah GT-80 so the firewall was replaced (I just bolted in a different one than I used for the DA100). So you should make another 1/4" ply firewall and drill to match the DA. I last used that plane to break in the GT for my giant scale race plane. That's the reason the different holes are in the cowl, too. They were for plug boot clearance and possibly exhaust outlets. That engine went on to propel my F1-GT plane to many round wins and even a race win in 2006!

Have fun!

Hi guys, looking forward to your fun fly this weekend. I plan to be there and I think the Tarheel R/C Flyers will have a strong showing as usual. I have a question about charging... do you guys have a free electrical outlet somewhere for us e-fliers to plug into for charging? Even if it's a single outlet to plug my power supply in, that's all I need. I've got 75 ft. of extension cords if necessary. Just let me know, cause if not, I'll have to look at other alternatives. Thanks!
