Beautiful flying day in Roxana, IL.

What a perfect day for flying! My Katana is out of commision for a week or two due to an engine swap and a radio upgrade, So my good buddy Rich Mowery invited
me out to Midwest Air Wing in Roxana IL.
He brought out his 30% pacific planes yak 54 with a DA-50, His 35% Von Extra 260
with a 3W-100, and his PERFECT 40% Carden Extra 330 with a DA-150.
Today was the first day I had flown a carden, and from now on, i will never be
happy with another ARF! that thing made ME look like a good pilot, and thats
hard to do!
Robert Portwood was also out with his beautiful new J-TEC extra with a DA-100.

Across the river there were a bunch of us flying at Buder. Chuck, Kyle, Jason, Steve T, Steve M, and others too numerous too mention. What's up with your Katana?

I folded up the tail of my .40 sized profile when I pulled full up elevator. I was able to land with only rudder an aileron. See how the elevator is folded up like a V-tail.

The Katana is cool, its just waiting on a new DA-100:-) the 3W is gone!
And at the moment, i am radio-less until about the end of this week, my
new JR 9303 2.4 will be here! I LOVE NEW STUFF!!!!

I wonder if our old red wooden picnic table is still there at the MWAW field? Next time you are out there, look for it, and if it is there, my wife and my names are routed into the left hand end of one of the benches.

I miss that field. Great place to fly and relax.

MWAW is definately an awsome field! I love flying out there. its only about a 30 min
drive from my house. I'm not sure about the red table, I wasnt sitting much at all yesterday. Next time i'm out there i'll check it out and let you know though!

Yeah I really wanted to come out there, i heard that there was a bunch of cool dudes headin out that way. I didnt have my plane with me, so I had to go where
Rich was going so i could fly all of his planes
Plus i'm a little nervous about traveling too far away from my wife for these
next few weeks...She could go in to labor any day, so i need to stay close to home
until my baby girl is born.
I promise I'll make it out there soon though!

Rich, did I tell you that I got a new job? I don't work over in IL anymore. I was looking forward to flying with you after work on the way home but not anymore....shoot. I need to make my way over there one of these weekends and burn some gas.
