He has a point. My Rhino kill switch has been faultless. Great product

I have a question about the Rhino.

Are Ground leads for the Plane Syatem Power and the Ignition power common?? In other words....are the grounds interconnected at the switch or the electronics of the switch?? Or is the ignition power completely isolated (ground included) from the Plane system??

Hi Mike,

They are completely isolated and do not share a common ground.

Cheers

This update has been a long time coming but I am happy to report that the production model is ready and I now have the necessary parts to make and sell my kill switches.

There is currently about 15 switches in use throughout Australia in planes ranging from 50-150cc sizes and with pilots from gas engine newbie's to TAS competitors and I am very proud to say that I have had no complaints so far.

I would like to say a big thanks to all the folks who volunteered to test the switches for me and to Flying Giants for providing such a great forum to share, learn and enjoy

Please PM or email if you would like more details regarding switch purchase.

And now some pics of the production model and of my switch install in my Comp-ARF 2.6m Extra 260:

Must put my comment in here and say these kill switches are absolutely flawless! Cannot fault them. They are running in all of mye big planes, and all 3 have never missed a beat. They really are a plug and play solution. And compact!

Jeremy your onto a winner here!

I must also say a very big thanks to Ian Howard from Desert Aircraft Australia. 18 months ago I posted a simple battery checker that I had designed and Howie sent me a PM asking what my next project would be. When I asked what he would recommended, he said to build a better kill switch.

Howie has since provided me with feedback throughout the project, lent me radio gear to perform testing and tested the prototype switch on his DA ignition test rig. He donated a heap of servo leads the help get me started and is now supplying me with the servo leads used to make the production model switches.

This is typical of the continuous help and support that DA puts into so many products and events in Australia and around the world and I certainly aspire to provide the same level of customer service in my hobby endeavors and in my day job as well.

Thanks again Howie

Yep they sure are a great product. I've been running one in my extra for almost 8 months. It has not missed a beat in that time.

I just installed a Rh1no Kill in my new 40% C-ARF 260, set up was a breeze, after plugging into my RX, all that was required was to reverse the direction in my TX for that channel so that the switch operated in the direction I desired, that was it, awesome!

Jeremy, big thanks go out to you, guy's like you are what keeps this hobby getting better and better, through inovation and a desire to achieve, we end up with better stuff for our toys.

I am happy to supply to the US and the broader RC community.

AUD price is $69 plus $5 P&H so USD price should be $59 and I think I can ship for $8 via Australia Post air mail with delivery in 4-6 working days.

I haven't sent one overseas yet so I guess I'll just have to try it and see how it goes. What could possibly go wrong?

Cheers
Jeremy
