Default PA TME Smoke System

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone from Oz has used or knows anyone that's using a Precision Aerobatics TME Smoke system? I'm undecided as to go with this type or the HHQ Showtime System. I'm putting it into my GP 1/3 Pitts, I think it will top off a great looking model. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Wilko.

I have had 2 TME smoke pumps, they both lost prime in extreme manouvres, are heavy with extra batteries required, and only lasted about 40 tanks of smoke oil each, changed to crankcase pressure system, and no problems since, and makes more smoke and is also lighter and never loses prime

I had the TME as well stripped the gears, and had one of their fluid pumps same thing stripped as well.
Also kept loosing prime. Pain and messy

crank case pressure is cheaper, lighter and more reliable than any pump, and makes same amount of smoke

I think Chrisby set up a crankcase pressure system on his 260. Makes heaps of smoke.

I've been using the TME smart smoke for a few years in my 260 with great results. Be sure to use 2 check valves on twin cylinders engines. I too lost prime with one, but 2 solved that.

fit small nipple to crank case, run hose through 1 way check valve (YS check valve works well), run hose through dubro or similar pinch valve with 5kg+ servo attached into smoke tank, every time piston(s) on downstroke, positive pressure is in crankcase, which then pressurizes smoke oil tank when pinch valve is open, hose runs from tank, through pinch valve to muffler. it is best to mix pinch valve servo to throttle so at low throttle, smoke is off or nearly off, also through switch on transmitter to turn off and on as well. make sure tank is wrapped in fibreglass reinforced tape as well to take pressure off seams

New to this forum and shortly new to gas planes, but how big does an aircraft have to be to install smoke systems?
