Cheers in advance for any suggestions!
I'm in the process of putting together a 27% GP CAP 232 with an XYZ 50cc in it for under $1000.00 to show newbies it can be done. Should be very 3D capable based on the numbers reported on this engine, JXF 21x8 at 6800RPM and the Bambula 20x10 at 6950RPM. Also would seem to be a very reliable engine as I spoke with a guy at the Olympia IMAC who flew one for 100 flights before selling the plane and says the guy that bought it is still flying it. Check it out. It's well worth the time.

http://www.southeastrcengines.com/

The distributor (Ron) seems to be a very nice guy and makes no outlandish claims for the engine, refreshing. At $250.00 complete it is an outstanding deal. I have received mine and it has a machined case and real Walbro carb. No cheap junk, just a nice reliable engine. Perfect match for a 25-27% plane. IMHO I'll post a thread on it when it's done. I've enlisted the aid of Kyle Woyshnis to 3D it for me just to see what it is, or isn't capable of. I'll be sure and post video.

Here's the thread on the engine.

XYZ 50CC engine did you try...?

GP 27% CAP 232 with hardware $349.99
XYZ 50cc complete $250.00

That leaves $400.00 for the rest without the Tower Discounts. Play those right and you can knock another $100.00 off. You got to love this sport!!!

BTW In case you're wondering, I'm in no way connected to any dealer or distributor nor do I accept any free equipment or other reimbursement. I just love this hobby and the people in it!!!

Look were the guy lives. It would cost him all that in freight.

Yeah I am moving up to 35 or 40% stuff for Imac and getting rid of all my 50cc stuff. If anyone is interested I have a low hours ZDZ 60 that I used for a few weeks and now selling. It started very easy like my da and runs great. Pulled my 18 pound WH around no problem. Its a great deal, It needs a new cap for the spark plug ( the wire came out of the plug cap) but Im only asking 300 or best offer. I will even buy back if your not happy with it. I think the engine is 700 or so new.

Dl-50 on a Wild Hare 50cc extra 300. I just bought one of the blue and yellows for $379.00.
Had the DL-50 on a GP 27% Cap 232 previously, didn't like the way it flew. Guess it was becuase it was a 13.5lb plane on a airframe designed for 11.5lbs.

You sure on the weight Ed??

SPECS: Wingspan: 79" (2005mm)
Wing Area: 1168sq in (75.3sq dm)
Ready to Fly Weight: 12.5 - 14lb (5.67 - 6.35kg)
Wing Loading: 25 - 27oz/sq ft (75 - 84g/sq dm)

The engine Tower recommends and sells for the plane weighs 3.5 pounds and cost twice what the XYZ sells for. The XYZ weighs 3 pounds 10 ounces. Seems to me to be a near perfect fit.

Oh you can't trust Tower, they lie sometimes. LOL. The GP Cap 232 is designed to use the OS 160.
You can put a 50cc gasser in it, but its going to fly like its on the heavy side. I bought the cap because it was on sale at my LHS for $300 and I wanted something cheap to break in and tune my 50cc engines with. Caps tend to be squirrelly anyway and the added weight made for some interesting flying (but fun). Because of the weight it was difficult to harrier and hover. If I was to get another one I would put a OS 160 in it.

You can get the Katana from Peak Models. Just google them.
If you live in Australia, I can get you one for around 350 AUD.

Cheers
