I've done it also, I once took off for a maiden of a scratch Built Macci Prop Jet with the ailerons reveresed, I checked them but clearly only checked that they went in opposite directions.. I managed to get it around and land it again but I should have bought a lottery ticket that day and I wont ever do that again, its the one check I do now all the time...

Good luck on a speedy replacment Vince

Bad luck Vince, it only takes about six months to stop giving yourself upper cuts for a mistake like that, my bruises have nearly all faded, but mainly due to having a replacement up and flying, so jump on the horse, it definately helps ease the pain!

Note to self, when changing aileron servos, check the direction. Rolled out on take off, fed in correction, got worse.. killed the motor, wingtip dug in and 1 cartwheel later, broken fuse. One somewhat embarrased pilot, very cross with myself!

Oh, dude that sucks.

I tried one of those beanies last week (thanks Howie/Richo!)... a bit too airy for real cold weather.. but probably toasty for qld cold weather

OH NO

Well done killing the motor in time and saving the crankshaft in what must have been a very unexpected and quickly over event. This is when backup planes really come into their own for a few weeks.

You are not alone: one time I managed to reverse the elevator servo DURING takeoff
I have an old Sanwa Tx which had no servo reversing, so I added some DPDT toggle switches to achieve reversing for aileron and elevator.. They were mounted beside the sticks, in the side of the case. Once when hand launching an electric glider, as the hand returned to the transmitter controls after the launch, it caught the elevator reversing switch and I promptly buried the nose of the glider into the field right in front of me . The switches have since been relocated INSIDE the case, accessed only thru a hole...

Nah, its just since Richo came up to Qld, I now make the pilots briefing at "still dark o'clock" so he feels at home, not cold, just cool

Bad luck Vince,

Done exactly the same thing myself a few years ago, swopped JR servo's for Futaba, normally check everthing before each flight but for some reason not this time.
