Congrats Stu

Looks like your patience paid off. Don't forget to invite me there as a visitor sometime so we can show them some YAKs

Here's a few pics
Glad you got it sorted Rusty. They should write "pick the odd one out" on the box

Those trailing axles look great, they should track very well. Don't forget to toe the mains in a tad when you do the final fit.

yeah there a nice set of legs. Toe in is added in already. Going to leave the legs fitted as it keeps the belly off the bench.

I think they were in Croydon but got moved by development. The Croyden Golf Course bit the same fate too, I think.

Thumbs up Re: Giants From Down Under

Hi Guys,
Today I was one of the few people invited to witness the test flight of Australia's largest RC Gas powered Model . . . . . .

Steve Thomas's 210 inch B17, powered by 4 DA 50's !!!

It was great to hear those DA 50's all in tune. The test flight happened at the Suncoast Model flyers Field (Home of the DA Challenge 2007) and there was no wind or clouds to be seen .

So anyway, the 17 was assembled and was ready to do some taxing tests, after them, it was refueled and ready to go. It took about half the length of the runway and it was off ! it flew around for a few minutes to get it in trim and then did a beat up of the strip and to finish it off a smooth landing, only taking a third of the strip !

I congratulate Steve for all the hard work he has put in to it every day for the last 2 years, building it from a laser cut kit to having done a perfect paint and wethering job

Aaron

PS: More pics to come

Pass our congrats on to Steve

Zac and I were privileged to see the B17 many months ago in Steves hanger and the attention to detail on this beautiful bird was mind blowing. The photos dont do it justice.

Hope Steve and the B17 can make to our air show we have in September!

I just saw some of the build pics on the weekend.

Wow is about all that comes to mind.

I'm also equally impressed by the stand Steve knocked up to sit the bugger on

Well done on the test flight.

If you can tell who said this you have too much time on your hands
"Any club that would have ME as a member I wouldnt want to join "

Elite is not the word ,just very hard to get into a club which is capped at
100 members and has one of the best strips in the country . Its a private
full scale air strip and is in the heart of the Yarra Valley , they also have
neighbours like Bertoli and Domain Chandon . mmmmmmm

Private lake/dam for float planes and green grass all year .

I better not take the yak on my first day if I want to be a long term member .
This will take me to 3 clubs in total and I have another one to go .
LOOK OUT VARMS , I love to chase gliders out of the sky , LOL

Stu
