Rusty quoted: Hey guys,

Do I need any special adapters to fit a dave brown spinner to a DA50?? Also do I need a jig to drill the prop and spinner? or does it come with the engine??

Rusty you don't get a prop drilling jig with a DA-50 engine, make sure you get the drilling jig for the DA-50 as the one for the DA-100 & DA-150 have a different pitch for the holes. Your going to have to get a drilling jig anyway to drill out your props. As for adapters they just use a long bolt that screws into the end of the shaft that protrudes through the prop hub.

Haven't used a Dave Brown Spinner, why don't you get a True Turn Spinner you may be able to get one already drilled to suit the DA-50, True Turn make them already drilled to suit the DA-150.

Otherwise just use your DA-50 drilling jig to drill out what ever spinner you buy.

Hey James, Rusty is right it all depends on power to weight. On a normal day my Yak hovers somewhere around half stick, I dont know exactly cause I like to pulse the throttle to keep it in the groove, everyones models will be slightly different. Are you just trying to get a general idea of the difference between the feel of gasser and a glow profile???

Rusty if you ring Ian Howard and tell him what prop you are running he will send you a whole spinner and backplate kit that will already be cut to fit your chosen prop. He supplies the tru-turn brand spinner and its a great product. When I got mine it just bolted straight on, and when you hit it with a little metal polish it shines right in your eye! Or have you already purchased the Dave Brown one??

1/4 - 1/3 throttle (which shocked me) on the light 2.6 CA - CS powered also. Thats with a linear throttle too.

The future is here 14mz reciever sitting on an expander that supplys it clean 5v and 7.4 to TG servos. 0.1 speed here we come on 2048 resolution... Smart-fly 14mz Power Expander

Important stuff i just found on RCU from valid source...

FYI: The 5955TG servo is rated at instantanious peak torque... after 5 seconds it will throttle that back in order not to smoke the servo under continuous heavy load.

-----------------------------------------------------

Two of the 8611A's seized (the motor)after about 45 sec at full load.
The 59XX's were not bothered by sitting at full load. So if the motor is the same the 8611A puts a lot more current through the motor

yah, i know it will vary with different set ups, it just gives me an idea of how much power they have, even for the vertical upline snaps.

Shedules you need every bit of power you can get cause of drag especially Unlimited. Torque rolling only needs to hold the weight of model hence low throttle. When you lauch em from hover they jump instantly heaps but then the huge drag kicks in as well and they slow down.

Thanks guys,

I already have the dave brown spinner, its been sitting in a drawer for about 12months. So I figure I might as well use it. I'm not sure if howie's sent the motor yet, It was coming this week I think. I'll see if he can throw a drill jig in too. I think I'll get a pre cut true turn for my ulti though, that will save heaps of time. Do they come pre balanced??
