You gonna use fromenco batts from Ian in QLD, Ive decided on 3x 4800 peerles, 4800 on ignition is but much but want all same batts with same plug so i can swap them around if required, and if i run the twin spark first up its 4 plugs to fire not 2.

Hey indoor is on next friday night are you comming up...

No probably not. Expecting a Kokam shipment soon. Have you used the 3w pipe mount. I got them but they arn't going to fit in the plane.

Arr sorry forgot tates have kokam. Do kokam have Li-Ion batts never looked. Yer I use the mount but they are a composite plane thing. You could use just the fiberglass part. The wood MTW canister mount maybe what you need from Ian, The DA guys here could maybe tell you if they fit a 70mm cannister I dont know, they look like good thing easy to grind down for tight space, Jenko used them on a 70mm KnS tuned pipe so think they fit.

Good timing on this thread as I've just finished making some washers to add up thrust to my H9 260. I recently had an experienced pilot take it through the trim sequence and explain what was happening and why (thanks Mick). The plane flew straight in an upright 45 upline but pulled upwards (to the belly) in an inverted 45 upline.

My transmitter shows 0 elevator, 1 right rudder and about 8 right aileron clicks of trim. Plane pulls slightly towards the canopy on downline but that can easily be mixed out. Not snappy on full 3d elevator into a wall so I figure things can't be too bad.

I cut some 1mm aluminium washers, added some taper to minimise the stress on the engine mounting tabs, and fitted them between the two lower standoffs and the engine. Just trial fitted the cowl and the added up thrust is sufficient enough to require some (3mm or so) cowl trimming around the cylinder head.

Is 1mm washers likley to be too much? Should I cut 0.5mm washers and try that first? Should I be putting the washers between standoff and firewall instead?

Cheers
Rhino

Yer its kinda simply turning plane into a projectile where you control lift when you want it which way you want it. Make it drop strait down idling first (use elevator trim to do this fix incidence if required later) then put motor in correct direction to get it to go strait up what ever it is. Only compromise decision is do you wanna fly a plane with back stick for level flight. Use cg to control how heavy you want nose to feel strait and level when vertical stuff is done. I have CG so plane still drops slightly towards nose on 45 climb when cg pendulums back to that tipping point, inverted and upright (I hate the balloon feeling on 45 up climbs with too reward CG but its personal preference). 1-3.5mm is usually the range of most planes difference on motor mounts top to bottom. 1mm washers are great.

Greatest thing about doing above, the plane is piss easy to torque roll as well, all in balance with no up elevator required to stay in spot..
