Give the money to one of your SINGLE flying buddies and have him order the stuff for you, shipped to his address. When it arrives go pick it up, remove it from the original box and dispose of the boxes before you get home. Then tell her that you traded him some old plane equipment for it. That way she doesn't know that you have spent any money at all. (reference above post, keep own credit cards and checking account)

Also explain to her that you used to have an anger problem before you started flying RC. Once you started flying it was you escape that curbed your rage and made you the great person that you are now. Explain that if you don't get to go fly at least once a week you slowly get to the point that you want to walk up to someone and rip their arm off just so you can beat them to death with it. (hey, the story works for me when anyone hassles me about smoking. LOL)

Keep enough planes in one room so that she can't tell the difference between the old and the new. Also if she wants a plane for herself write out the cost for a .40 size trainer ( include everything) and when she says " Is that how much one of these cost." You can say "Yes. The ones I fly aren't THAT much more."
Just be sure to make hers special by putting Mary Kay stickers on it.

You guy's have to be cool about the prices of these airplanes around the wives. they might get your user name and password and start reading some of this stuff on the Giants. My wife thinks these 40%er's cost about 400$

Recover and old airplane and let the other half see you do this. Then the next time you get a new airplane, just say its an old one you recovered. Also, invite the gal down to the shop to check out progress of you latest "approved" project. In no time at all, she won't come near the shop for fear you might hold her captive and tell her again how you use gorilla glue for sheeting wings and 30 minute epoxy on your firewall but still prefer Titebond for general construction.
